Prioritizing Your Walk With God
Good morning💕 Happy Monday! I hope you had a restful Sabbath😄
I’ve started to incorporate having one day off where I don’t do anything work related, but I just rest in the Lord. In Genesis when God created the Heavens and the earth, and everything in between in 6 days, on the 7th day He rested.
For as long I could remember, I would think of resting as recovering from being exhausted or tired, but I’ve come to learn that the “rest” mentioned prior to the fall was a means of orientation. Taking in all that He had created, observing His creation, and communing with Him.
As I’ve been on my journey of reading my Bible in 52 weeks, throughout Genesis & Exodus, and all the scriptures in between, a common thread I’ve noticed is God yearning to be connected and dwelling with His creation, us. Longing and wanted to walk with us, and be with us at all times. To have a true relationship and connection with us. Not be this distant being apart from us, but to be treated as someone we hold high regard for and prioritize. We see throughout scripture where God rewards those who diligently seek Him, blesses those who put their trust in Him and whose hope is Him, and never leaves nor forsakes those who prioritize their walk with Him.
Coming to this realization has been huge for me because it address all the idols that I would tend to place before God, and one thing God has been very clear about is not having ANY other god(s) before him. Whether that’s seeking validation from others, approval from anything outside of God, or allowing the purpose that He’s called us to, to become an opportunity to operate in the flesh/take his place (See Galatians 5 for what it means/ looks like to operate in the flesh).
With that said, in this new chapter of my life and moving forward, I am prioritizing walking with God and my relationship with God above any and all things. Designating a day (Sunday) as my Sabbath to commune with God and just be in His presence and I must say doing this has definitely given me a spark in starting my week off strong💕

In my own experience, intentionally setting aside a day to rest in the Lord has transformed my spiritual journey. Initially, I viewed rest simply as physical recovery from exhaustion. However, learning about the biblical concept of Sabbath—modeled in Genesis when God rested on the seventh day—shifted my perspective. It’s not just about resting the body; it’s about spiritually orienting yourself to God’s presence and taking time to truly observe and commune with Him. Embracing this rhythm has helped me identify the “idols” I unconsciously placed before God, such as seeking approval from others or pursuing my own ambitions without surrendering to His will. As Galatians 5 warns, operating in the flesh can lead us away from the freedom and joy God intends for us. Putting God first, especially dedicating a Sabbath day, has been a practical way to realign my heart and priorities. I’ve noticed that when I start my week after communing with God, I feel a renewed spark and strength to face daily challenges. This practice cultivates a closer, more authentic relationship with God—one that is not distant or routine but vibrant and life-giving. For anyone feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, I encourage trying to incorporate a weekly Sabbath rest focused on God. It’s an invitation to experience God’s presence deeply, appreciate His creation anew, and find peace that transcends circumstances. Walking consistently with God, seeking Him diligently, and trusting His promises as described throughout Genesis and Exodus has blessed my life in countless ways. God’s yearning to be near us and to reward our faithfulness is a beautiful truth that continues to inspire me daily. Prioritizing our walk with God is not just a spiritual discipline but a pathway to a fulfilling and purposeful life.
