These photos were taken in Nicholasville and in Lexington at my last stop before retirement.

When I wrote ‘I’m old…’ in the original post, it was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but also a genuine feeling as I look at how much time has flown by. These aren't just random pictures; they're snippets of my life, my personal selfie diary documenting the journey from my early twenties to where I am now, on the cusp of a new chapter before what I playfully call 'retirement' from a certain phase of life, perhaps from my career in Nicholasville or Lexington.
It's fascinating to see the 'same person' – the smiling woman with curly brown hair and glasses – but in completely 'different years.' There's me at 21, rocking a blue scrub top, full of youthful energy in 2019. Then jump to 2022, still smiling, in my grey Under Armour shirt, perhaps a bit wiser. And in 2023, at 27, taking a mirror selfie, still with my trusty glasses and curly hair, but with a different sparkle in my eye. Each one tells a story of growth, change, and sometimes, just a really good hair day!
For many of us, especially as we navigate our 30s, 40s, and beyond – what some might consider the "middle-aged" years – selfies become more than just quick snaps. They’re a way to document our evolving style, our changing perspectives, and yes, even those little lines that tell tales of laughter and experience. I’ve found that taking a selfie, whether it’s a quick mirror selfie before work or a relaxed one on the couch, is a small act of self-love. It’s about celebrating who you are in that moment, regardless of your age.
I remember feeling a bit self-conscious about taking selfies as I got older, wondering if it was 'still appropriate.' But honestly, why not? Every woman deserves to capture her own beauty and joy. It’s not about perfection; it’s about authenticity. My grey Under Armour shirt might be a staple, my glasses always perched on my nose, and my curly hair sometimes a wild mess, but that’s *me*. And seeing these photos side-by-side, from my early days in scrubs to my more recent looks, just reminds me to embrace every single year.
So, if you’re a woman who's ever felt that pang of 'I’m old!' or wondered if you should keep taking those selfies, my advice is yes, absolutely! Keep documenting your journey. These images become cherished memories, a testament to your resilience, your happiness, and all the beautiful moments in between. They're a reminder that you're worth celebrating, at 21, 27, or any age in between and beyond. What's been your favorite selfie moment through the years?
I would have retired from my last place of employment, I felt as free as I did at my first job being leaving at HH. A job doesn’t have to be seen as job. Having good work ethic doesn’t mean you’re lazy. Time management does not mean you’re watching the clock. Your work day is an easy/difficult as you choose it to be.
