1st Time Author

✨ 4 Things I Learned as a 1st Time Author 📚💛

When I first decided to publish my book, I thought it would just be writing → editing → selling.

Ohhh nooo, it’s a whole beautiful rollercoaster 🎢💫

Here’s what I learned along the way (and what I wish someone told me):

1️⃣ Your book becomes your baby 👶📖 – You’ll carry it everywhere in your heart (and sometimes literally in your tote bag), showing it off like proud parent pics.

2️⃣ The work starts after publishing 🤯 – Marketing, signing copies, answering DMs, posting content… it’s a full-on second job, but so worth it.

3️⃣ Not everyone will support you… and that’s okay 💌 – Focus on the people who genuinely cheer for you. They’ll make every late night worth it.

4️⃣ Holding your book for the first time is pure magic ✨ – You’ll cry, laugh, and probably take 50 pictures from every angle.

💬 Author friends, what’s one thing YOU learned on your first book?

... Read morePublishing your first book is an unforgettable adventure, as this post beautifully expresses. Beyond the writing and editing, many first-time authors face unexpected challenges and joyful moments that shape their experience. One key takeaway is the emotional attachment you develop toward your book. It becomes more than just pages; it turns into your passion project, your pride, and even your constant companion—carried in your heart and sometimes in your tote bag. However, the work doesn’t end when the book hits the shelves. In fact, marketing and promotion begin in earnest at this point. Activities like signing copies, engaging with readers through social media DMs, and consistently posting content demand a significant time investment, almost like a second full-time job. Yet, these efforts are essential for building a supportive community and increasing visibility. An important, often overlooked lesson is learning to cope with mixed reactions from others. Not everyone will support or understand your writing journey, and that’s perfectly okay. Concentrating on genuine fans and supporters nurtures your motivation and mental well-being as an author. Finally, holding your physical book for the first time is a rewarding and magical milestone that evokes a range of emotions. It’s common to capture countless photos—each angle telling a story of perseverance and creativity. For new authors embarking on this path, understanding these realities will prepare you for the rollercoaster ride ahead and help you cherish every moment of your unique author life. Embrace the journey with open arms and keep sharing your stories—there’s a whole community ready to cheer you on!

How to become an Author
Here are my tips and tricks for you guys: 1. Just start writing. Don’t focus on writing a full on book the first time you sit down. I started by writing about my own life. I took memories or things I imagined and wrote them down. From that the ideas started flooding in. 2. When you have a
