... Read moreManaging the demands of a full-time job, running a small business, and taking care of kids can truly test anyone's mental capacity. I’ve experienced moments when it feels like my brain simply refuses to retain any more information. This feeling isn’t just forgetfulness—it’s often the result of juggling multiple intense responsibilities simultaneously. For example, keeping track of appointments, business orders, household chores, and children’s activities creates a constant mental to-do list. It’s no wonder that sometimes you find yourself repeating things or forgetting what you just said. This kind of mental overload is common among working moms and business owners because their brains are operating in high gear almost 24/7. What helps is recognizing that this kind of 'mom brain' or mental fatigue isn’t a sign of weakness or failure. Rather, it signals that your brain needs a break or a better system to manage all these tasks. Tools like planners, digital reminders, or delegating tasks can relieve some cognitive load. Also, self-compassion is crucial. Many women feel guilty for forgetting or needing to pause, but understanding the immense effort involved in balancing these roles is vital. Taking time for self-care, even in small doses, can help refill your mental resources. Whether it’s a few minutes of quiet, a short walk, or simply acknowledging you’re doing a great job despite these memory lapses, these moments recharge your brain. Ultimately, the experience of managing household duties, a career, and business, while being there for your kids, is an impressive feat. Sharing these challenges openly helps normalize the realities of working moms and reminds us all that it’s okay to ask for help, use support systems, and give ourselves grace during the chaos.
