Why I stay home (even though we don’t have kids)

WHY do I stay home even though we don’t have kids?

1. To spend more time with my husband: we’ve had opposite schedules for years. It was hard to stay on the same page and communicate when we saw each other once a week.

2. To focus on building an honorable life: we know the life we want to live/build, and that life is much more easily accomplished with me at home. I’ve dreamed of staying home for a long time!

3. To spend more time with loved ones: a huge part of the life we want to build includes having a village. It’s much easier to build that village with me home.

Do YOU stay home or dream of staying at home?

... Read moreSince sharing why I chose to be a stay-at-home wife even without kids, I’ve had so many questions about what it actually looks like day-to-day. It's more than just the three reasons I shared; it's a profound shift in lifestyle that allows for intentional living and a deeper connection to what truly matters. One of the biggest joys has been the transformation in my relationship with my husband. With our old opposite schedules, quality time felt like a rare luxury. Now, we start our mornings together, share quiet evenings, and even have time for impromptu dates. It's not just about seeing each other more; it's about building a shared life, having those deep conversations, and tackling projects together that we never had time for before. This daily connection has truly strengthened our marriage and communication, laying a solid foundation for our future. The concept of 'building an honorable life' might sound grand, but for us, it's about creating a home that feels like a sanctuary, focusing on our values, and contributing to our community. Being home gives me the capacity to manage our household efficiently, plan healthy meals, and ensure our finances are in order. But it's also about personal growth. I've found time to pursue hobbies I love, read more, and even volunteer. It's about cultivating a life rich in meaning, not just activity, and aligning our daily actions with our long-term vision. And that 'village' I talked about? It's flourishing! Being available means I can host friends for dinner, help out family members when they need it, and genuinely invest in our local community. It's about being present and fostering those important relationships that make life so rich. I've learned that building strong connections takes time and consistent effort, and being home has given me the gift of that time to truly nurture those bonds with our loved ones. Of course, not everyone understands this choice. I sometimes get asked, 'What do you do all day?' or 'Aren't you bored?' The truth is, my days are full! Full of purpose, creativity, and connection. It's a different kind of fulfillment than a traditional career, but it's incredibly rewarding. I've learned to explain that my 'work' is investing in our future, our home, and our relationships. It's about intentional living and setting a foundation for the family we hope to have one day. For anyone considering this path, even before kids, my advice is to define what 'an honorable life' means to *you*. Create a routine that supports your goals, find ways to stay engaged and stimulated, and communicate openly with your partner. It's a journey of discovery, and it's been one of the most rewarding decisions I've ever made. It truly allows you to live life on your own terms, shaping your world from the inside out and focusing on what truly matters to you and your husband.

The entrance to Houston's Downtown Aquarium, featuring a rock-like facade with signs for 'Tickets' and 'Entrance,' and a prominent blue sign reading 'AN UNDERWATER ENTERTAINMENT ADVENTURE AQUARIUM ADVENTURE EXHIBIT.'

They even have a Tiger?! 🐅
I had such a fun time at Houston’s Downtown Aquarium . I was kind of surprised at how small it was, but nevertheless, it had awesome things to do! A few cool things about this Aquarium: • they have a tiger! • you can pet/touch stingrays! • take the train and go through the shark tunnel! T

A woman in light-colored clothing stands in a bright room looking out at a lush tropical view, with text overlay "the toughest things I've experienced in a relationship (even with amazing partners)", setting the theme for relationship challenges.
A cozy bed with light bedding and pillows, seen through a window with green foliage outside. Text overlay details the challenge of "not having sleep compatibility" in a relationship.
A close-up of a woman's torso wearing a light blue top with a small bow, pulling up a dark garment. Text overlay "feeling insecure of my body" explains her struggle with body image in relationships.
there’s pain points even in great relationships
a relationship is the joining of multiple people’s realities. we all have our own beliefs, trauma, preferences, tendencies, strengths, weaknesses and so on. even a very compatible partner will occasionally do things that push your buttons, cross your boundaries, make you feel sad, do things tha

Even if it feels overwhelming…
Kids should be kids. Take them out, let them enjoy the new restaurant you have been so excited to go to. Take them the park and let them run wild. Take them to the grocery store and let them help you put the groceries in the cart. I know it’s hard, I know it’s tough, I know everyone is looking and

I didn’t realize the room was teaching my kids before I even opened my mouth
I was watching my kids dig through a pile of books like they were on a treasure hunt and it hit me… the environment is doing half the work. Not because of cute labels or color coded bins but because the space itself invites learning without me hovering. A solid learning environment isn’t about

Why more women are choosing not to have kids
Have you had to make the choice not to have kids, not because you don’t want them, but because you simply can’t afford them? After having two kids myself, I have chosen not to have anymore. Would I love more? Absolutely!! However we are not in the position to be able to afford more. I even stay

Socializing stay at home kids!
My children stay home with me everyday all day and I have been asked sober and over again how we socialize them or told that they need to socialize. If you were to ever meet or chat with our boys you would disagree😂 They love to talk, share stories, and make new friends of all ages. We’ve worked ha
