WIEIAD : Full liquid diet Vsg

Here is what I eat most of my full liquid diet days :

- Water : I start my day off with at least 20 oz of water. My goal is t9 drink 40 oz of water by the end of the day.

- Chobani : these chobani yogurt drinks are so good and great for a snack. Also has 10g of protein.

- Tomato soup : I can’t tolerate broth at all since the surgery so I’ve been drinking this for lunch & dinner.

- Core Power Chocolate protein shakes : I try to have at least 2 of these a day and the flavor is really good. 26 grams of protein.

- Gatorade Zero : it’s important to stay hydrated during the first month after surgery.

It’s not just about what you can drink, but how you nourish your body during this sensitive period of healing and adjustment. From my personal experience, careful planning, understanding your body’s new needs, and knowing which liquids provide essential nutrients are absolutely key to success. Prioritizing Hydration: Staying hydrated was my absolute top priority. I always kept my water bottle close by, aiming for at least 20 oz first thing in the morning and diligently working towards a total of 40 oz throughout the day. Beyond plain water, electrolyte drinks became crucial. Gatorade Zero (the refreshing grape flavor was a true lifesaver for me, as seen with my current stock!) helped replenish what my body needed without adding unnecessary sugar or calories. I learned that small, frequent sips are much better tolerated than trying to drink large amounts at once. It’s easy to forget to sip, but setting regular reminders on your phone or using a marked water bottle can make a huge difference in hitting your hydration goals. The Power of Protein: Getting enough protein is absolutely non-negotiable during this phase. It’s vital for protecting muscle mass, promoting healing, and keeping hunger at bay. Core Power protein shakes, especially the smooth vanilla version, were a consistent staple for me, providing a substantial 26 grams of protein in one go. Chobani yogurt drinks, like the convenient mixed berry option, were also fantastic for a quick 10g protein boost and to introduce a bit of flavor variety. I also found that blending unflavored protein powder into my approved soups or even some warm drinks was another excellent way to hit my protein targets without feeling overwhelmed or bored with the same options. Comforting & Nutritious Liquids (Beyond Broth): The original article mentioned tomato soup, and I completely understand why! For many, myself included, plain broths can be surprisingly difficult to tolerate or simply unappetizing post-op. A smooth, organic tomato creamy soup, warmed just right in a bowl, felt incredibly comforting and provided some much-needed flavor and substance. The image in my post shows the exact type of creamy tomato soup I found so helpful. When choosing soups, always ensure they are thoroughly strained and completely smooth, with no chunks or fibrous bits. Other creamy, low-fat, and strained options like butternut squash or even certain mushroom soups (check labels carefully for sugar and fat content) can also be good additions, offering variety while adhering to the full liquid guidelines. Essential Tips for Success: Managing this diet effectively means more than just having the right foods and drinks. I learned to sip slowly and consistently throughout the day, rather than trying to consume large amounts at once. Listening intently to my body was paramount – if something didn't agree with me, I simply moved on to another option without pushing it. It's also vital to strictly avoid carbonated beverages and sugary drinks, as they can cause significant discomfort, gas, or even stretch your new stomach pouch. Experimenting with different approved flavors and textures (within the liquid diet rules) helped prevent 'flavor fatigue,' which can be a real struggle. And don't forget to track your intake, especially protein and fluids, to ensure you're consistently meeting your recovery goals. Remember, this phase is temporary, but it sets the foundation for your long-term success.
