Mastering off-stage recovery is also vital – many matches are won or lost by who can get back to the stage more consistently. Another aspect I've found incredibly useful is thinking about character matchups. While I usually stick to a main or two, understanding the general strengths and weaknesses of popular legends helps me adapt my playstyle. For example, if I'm up against a cannon user, I know I need to be extra careful about their long-range attacks and look for openings after they commit. If it's a fast, light weapon like katars, I try to out-space them and punish their aggressive approaches. Don't forget the power of true combos (if your legend has reliable ones) and strings. While not every hit will lead to a true combo, practicing reliable strings in training mode can significantly boost your damage output and K.O. potential. And always, always be looking for punishes. Did your opponent whiff an attack? Did they miss their recovery? That's your chance to deal some serious damage! Lastly, remember that everyone has bad days. Even the pros lose sometimes.
