FIVE STAR READ !!!!!!

Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Length: 406 pages

Where: Kindle Unlimited

Tropes: Fantasy. Witches. Enemies to Lovers. Fake Dating. Redemption.

This book was just… wow. I loved this book in every way possible. I’m going to try to express my love for this book without spoiling it entirely. The plot was so good to the point that I didn’t even know what side to take in the end. The longer I read the book, the more confused and blurred my thoughts and emotions became. The enemies-to-lovers/fake dating trope was amazing and the build up was probably one of the best I’ve read. And the PLOT TWIST! Omg. I was dumbfounded. This entire book kept me wondering, guessing, rooting, loving, and crying. I could not put this baby down.

I imagined this book as a dark, moody, witchy fantasy. The way the author described the settings and characters reminded me of a dark Victorian society that's surrounded by old books, burning candles, and winding vines wrapping around the island.

If you ever have time and are a fan of fantasy, witches, enemies-to-lovers, fake dating, please please read this book.

... Read moreI know I already gushed about Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli, but seriously, it deserves every single one of its five gold stars! What truly elevated this to a five-star book for me wasn't just the thrilling enemies-to-lovers trope, but the sheer depth of its world-building and the moral complexities woven into every chapter. It's rare to find a fantasy novel that keeps you guessing until the very last page, where the lines between good and evil are so wonderfully blurred. The way the plot unfolded, with twists I genuinely did not see coming, kept me glued to the pages, desperate to uncover every secret. This wasn't just a story; it felt like an intricate puzzle box, each turn revealing something more surprising than the last. From the moment I saw the cover – with that striking large moth and the subtle hints of red roses – I knew I was in for a dark fantasy aesthetic treat. And the book absolutely delivered! The author’s descriptions painted a vivid picture of a world that felt distinctly Victorian gothic, reminiscent of old books collected in shadowy libraries, with the soft, eerie glow of a candlelit mirror scene setting a moody atmosphere. It perfectly captures that witchy, atmospheric vibe indicated by the gorgeous cover art, which I now know was a New York Times Bestseller. The setting itself felt like another character, with winding vines and ancient structures adding to the oppressive yet enchanting mood. Beyond the aesthetics, the characters themselves are what made this book unforgettable. Their journey is fraught with difficult choices, and their growth throughout the story felt incredibly real and earned. The fake dating element, often a lighthearted trope, was used here with such nuance and tension, adding layers to their already complicated dynamic. If you're someone who appreciates a story where redemption is hard-won and characters have to confront their own biases, this is a phenomenal read. You find yourself constantly shifting allegiances, unsure who to trust, which for me, is the mark of truly compelling storytelling. For those wondering about the intensity, Heartless Hunter dives into darker themes and morally grey areas, making it a compelling read for mature fantasy lovers. While it's not overtly graphic, the emotional stakes are incredibly high, and the world itself has a certain grim beauty. It’s certainly a departure from lighter fantasy reads, offering a rich, immersive experience that encourages deep thought about loyalty, revenge, and sacrifice. It’s the kind of book that sparks discussion and introspection, and I can see why it's gaining so much traction in the fantasy community. If you enjoy stories that challenge your perspective and leave you pondering long after you've finished, this is absolutely for you. Ultimately, this book became one of those rare, truly unforgettable five-star reads that sticks with you long after you've turned the final page. It’s a testament to Kristen Ciccarelli’s masterful storytelling, blending romance, magic, and suspense into a truly unique package. If you're searching for your next immersive dark fantasy, especially one with a captivating enemies-to-lovers romance and an incredible plot twist, do yourself a favor and pick up Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli. You won't regret immersing yourself in this spellbinding world!
