Labor + postpartum nurse baskets 💙
I’m putting together a special gift basket for my incredible labor and delivery nurses. While it’s not required, I believe it’s so important to show appreciation for all the hard work, care, and dedication they put into their jobs every day. They truly deserve this small token of thanks for making such an important moment in my life feel so much smoother. #lemon8partner #hospitalbagessentials #laboranddelivery #pregnancyjourney #newmom
When I was preparing for my labor and delivery, one thing that kept coming to mind was how much I wanted to thank the incredible nurses who would be caring for me. While it’s absolutely not expected, putting together a little gift basket for them felt like such a small way to acknowledge the monumental role they play. They’re there for us during one of the most vulnerable and intense moments of our lives, offering support, expertise, and endless compassion. From my personal experience, a thoughtful gesture like a nurse appreciation basket truly goes a long way in showing gratitude. So, what actually makes a great gift for labor and delivery nurses? I spent a lot of time thinking about what they might genuinely appreciate during those long, demanding shifts. I focused on practical items and comforting treats. For my basket, I made sure to include essentials like nice pens (nurses can never have enough!), and chapstick because hospital air can be so dry. Gum is also a fantastic addition for a quick refresh. I also thought about their energy levels. Long shifts mean they need quick, accessible fuel. I packed a variety of energy bars and trail mix, along with some individual bags of candy for a sweet pick-me-up. And of course, energy drinks were a must – sometimes a coffee just isn't enough when you're on your feet for hours! Beyond these, consider adding some self-care items that can be used on the go or during a short break. Small tubes of hand cream are wonderful, as nurses wash their hands constantly. Hair ties, travel-sized sanitizers, or even a few nice tea bags or single-serve coffee packets could be appreciated. Instead of one large basket for the entire unit, sometimes preparing smaller, individual items or grouping things into themes (like a 'snack station' basket and a 'self-care' basket) can be effective. Don't forget the night shift! It's easy to drop off gifts during the day, but those working overnight are just as deserving. A simple sticky note on the basket for 'night shift nurses' ensures everyone feels included. Remember, the most important part of any gift is the sentiment behind it. I made sure to include a handwritten card expressing my heartfelt thanks. Acknowledging their specific care and dedication can make it even more personal. It doesn't have to be expensive; even a small, well-thought-out basket can bring a huge smile to a nurse’s face. It's a tangible way to say, 'I see you, I appreciate you, and thank you for being there.' Trust me, it feels good to give back to those who give so much.
