Let them play ✨🥰
We spend so much time teaching our children to read, write, solve math problems, and prepare for the future that sometimes we forget one of the most important parts of childhood: play.
From Pre-K all the way through high school, kids need opportunities to play, move, laugh, and connect. Play isn’t something children outgrow—it’s something they continue to benefit from as they grow.
Play teaches teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, communication, resilience, and emotional regulation. It gives their brains a break, reduces stress and anxiety, improves focus, and reminds them that learning and joy can exist together.
Somewhere along the way, recess and unstructured play become less important, replaced with more homework, more pressure, and busier schedules. But our teenagers are still developing. They still need moments to laugh with friends, run around, be goofy, and recharge.
We often wonder why so many young people are overwhelmed, anxious, and burned out. Maybe part of the answer is that we’ve forgotten they’re still kids.
Childhood isn’t meant to be rushed. Let them play in Pre-K. Let them play in elementary school. Let them play in middle school. And yes… let them play in high school too.
Because play isn’t the opposite of learning—it helps make learning, growing, and simply being human possible. ❤️
