They called me lazy for this?

I was working 40+ hours a week at a warehouse, doing overnight shifts. I’d clock out at 7am, shower at the gas station, grab a bagel, then head straight to my 9am lecture barely keeping my eyes open. I did this every day for two years.

I never asked for help. I paid my own tuition, my own rent, even sent money to my mom when she was short on bills. My weekends were for laundry, assignments, sleep, and maybe maybe a coffee alone to breathe.

So when my college friends planned a weekend trip to Miami and I said I couldn’t go because I picked up extra shifts? They laughed. Called me “no fun,” “always tired,” and said I was being “lazy.”

Lazy?

The same girl who worked every Christmas and missed family birthdays just to survive?

People love to call you lazy when they’ve never had to work a register at 2am or take finals after pulling a double shift.

I don’t need a trophy. But damn, some respect would’ve been nice.

Anyone else been judged for choosing responsibility over fun?
