I grew up in an immigrant household and clothes on the line was a must.
Haven’t really had the opportunity to do it as much as an adult living on my own in my previous apartments.
We are having a heat wave this weekend and I found a way to air dry my clothes.
It feels nostolgic to me.

It wasn’t just about drying laundry; it was a moment to pause, enjoy fresh air, and feel connected to simpler times. As an adult, living in apartments with limited outdoor space made air-drying challenging, so it became more of a rare treat than a routine. Recently, during a particularly hot weekend, I finally found a way to revive this practice by setting up an indoor drying rack near a sunny window. The warmth and gentle breeze created the perfect natural drying environment. Not only did my clothes smell wonderfully fresh, but I also felt a deep sense of satisfaction knowing I was saving energy by not using a dryer. Air-drying clothes has several benefits beyond nostalgia. It’s environmentally friendly, reduces wear and tear on fabrics, and can even save money on electricity bills. Plus, in the heat, clothes dry faster and avoid the potential shrinkage and damage from a machine dryer. For those who didn’t grow up with this tradition or live in places where dryers are more common, I encourage trying it out at least occasionally.
