All of my can plant things

All of the can plants I made ❤️

really cute and summery 🩷

... Read moreI absolutely love finding new ways to bring a little greenery into my home, and my latest obsession has been transforming old beverage cans into adorable planters! Seriously, who knew those empty Monster Energy, Peace Tea, or even Arizona Iced Tea cans could look so chic on a windowsill? It's such a fun and eco-friendly way to upcycle, and it adds so much personality to my space. I wanted to share a bit more about how I do it and what I've learned along the way, especially for anyone looking for unique 'monster can creations' or 'coffee can decorating ideas'! First things first, choosing your cans! I've had great luck with various sizes, but I particularly like the standard drink can size for small cacti and succulents. Once you've enjoyed your drink, give the can a thorough wash with soap and water. This gets rid of any sticky residue. Now, here's the crucial step, especially for succulents and cacti: drainage! These little guys hate wet feet. You'll need to carefully poke a few small holes in the bottom of the can. I usually use a hammer and a small nail, or even a drill with a tiny bit if you have one. Just be super careful not to dent the can too much or hurt yourself! Next, it's plant time! For these 'repurposed beverage cans,' I've found that 'small cacti and succulents' are absolutely perfect. They don't need a lot of soil, their root systems are generally compact, and they thrive in bright spots like a sunny 'windowsill'. I love how a tiny cactus monster energy planter looks! I've also experimented with small herbs or even propagating plant cuttings in water in some of the cans without drainage holes. If you're wondering about other 'plants that grow in water,' things like Pothos or spider plant cuttings do wonderfully in these small vessels. To make them even cuter, don't be afraid to get creative! You can leave the cans as is for a really cool industrial or pop-art vibe, especially if the original design is vibrant. Or, you could paint them with acrylic craft paint. I've seen some amazing 'monster can flower' designs where people paint flowers or abstract patterns. Tying some twine or ribbon around the middle can also add a rustic touch. For a more personalized feel, you could even add little labels with the plant's name. Once your plants are potted, finding the right spot is key. My 'windowsill' is my go-to, as it gets plenty of light, which is essential for most of these tiny plants. They make charming little accents on shelves, desks, or even as part of a larger 'gardening' display. Just remember to water sparingly, especially for your cacti and succulents, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. These small pots can dry out faster, so keep an eye on them. It's such a rewarding feeling to give new life to something that would otherwise be thrown away, creating something beautiful and green. If you're looking for an easy and fun 'DIY can plant pot' project, I highly recommend trying this out. It's a fantastic way to add some 'plantita plants' to your collection without spending a lot, and you end up with unique decor that literally everyone compliments!
