Shopkick is Gone!? ☠️ How Many Kicks did You Have?
There has been no official statement but unconfirmed sources say that Shopkick has gone under. The app is not functioning properly, it’s not available for download in the App Store or Google Play. The website has a 404 Not Found Page. Funny enough looks like the support page is still up (although I doubt you’ll have much success with any kind of support). It appears their IG is also now gone.
I started using Shopkick back in 2014-2015 (it wasn’t even for rebates at the time, I only used it for walk-in and scan kicks). I just started using it again the start of this year and luckily just cashed out a $50 Walmart GC, but I wasn’t gonna cash out again until I had enough for another $50. So I’ve still got a little under $20 still there (guess that Nutella Ice Cream from Jewel this last week wasn’t really free in the end).
Please remember to cash out often from these rebate apps. As soon as you have enough to cash out or redeem for GCs do so. We as consumers have little protection in situations like this when companies go under.
Shopkick was acquired most recently by the company Trax a Retail Technology based company in 2019 who is privately held (according to Bloomberg News and other sources).
Now this is just me speculating but since there is not official statement (although there may never be) could they be trying to sell the company or revive it? Possibly figure out financially how to get people what they deserve. I don’t think many would trust a company again after something like this happened. It just seems very sudden, but I understand things like this can just happen outta the blue.
