You don’t clean a room without making a mess first
Stop calling it peace
if God is flipping it.
I’m serious.
Some of you are asking God for calm…
while He’s trying to clean house.
You’re praying for comfort…
while He’s confronting what’s been out of place for way too long.
And when things start shaking—
you panic.
You call it attack.
You call it stress.
You call it everything except what it might actually be.
God.
Jesus didn’t walk into the temple quietly.
He didn’t adjust things.
He didn’t politely suggest change.
He flipped tables.
Why?
Because what was happening looked spiritual…
but it was completely out of alignment.
📖 “My Temple will be called a house of prayer, but you have turned it into a den of thieves.” — Matthew 21:13 (NLT)
Let that sink in.
They weren’t outside the temple.
They were inside.
Functioning.
Serving.
Looking like everything was fine.
But it wasn’t.
And here’s where this hits today…
Some things in your life didn’t start wrong.
They just slowly took over.
What used to be harmless…
became a distraction.
What used to be small…
became a replacement.
And now it sits in a place
only God was meant to have.
So when Jesus steps in—
He doesn’t negotiate with it.
He overturns it.
Relationships.
Habits.
Mindsets.
Comfort zones.
Anything that is standing where His presence should be…
He will flip it.
And here’s the part people don’t want to hear:
It will not feel peaceful.
It will feel like disruption.
Like pressure.
Like everything is out of order.
But that’s because
He’s exposing what was already out of order.
🔥 You don’t clean a room without making a mess first.
And some of you are standing in the middle of the mess…
thinking something went wrong.
Nothing went wrong.
He just started cleaning.
🤍 Hear this clearly:
He’s not tearing your life apart.
He’s removing what can’t go where He’s taking you.
He’s protecting your purpose.
He’s restoring your heart.
He’s making room again.
So don’t run
when things start flipping.
Don’t grab what He’s trying to remove.
Don’t rebuild what He just tore down.
Let Him finish.
Because when Jesus flips tables…
He always follows it with restoration.

if there’s anything in me that doesn’t belong—
anything that has taken Your place…
I give You permission.
Flip it.
Even if it’s uncomfortable.
Even if it costs me.
Make my life a house of prayer again. 🤍

Many of us seek peace and comfort as signs of God's blessing, yet sometimes what we interpret as chaos or disruption is actually God actively flipping the tables, stirring our lives to realign us with His purpose. From personal experience, the process of spiritual cleansing can feel deeply unsettling, like everything familiar is shaken or overturned. Yet, this 'mess' is necessary to reveal hidden distractions or misplaced priorities that have crept into our hearts, hindering true growth. For instance, when a relationship or habit that once seemed harmless starts to dominate the time and heart space reserved for God, it may prompt discomfort or tension. This discomfort is not a punishment but a signal showing that something needs to be uprooted or transformed. Recognizing this can be challenging, as it may feel like an attack or loss, but it’s actually a protective and restorative act. Jesus’ example in the temple teaches us that disruption can be an act of love and purification. He didn’t quietly rearrange things; He confronted what was out of place with decisive action. Likewise, when God begins this flipping process in our lives, it’s a sign that He is preparing a place for His presence that is holy and vibrant. I've learned that resisting this process can prolong the struggle and confusion, but surrendering—even when uncomfortable—opens the door to restoration and renewed purpose. It’s important to guard against rebuilding what God is tearing down or clinging to old comforts that block His movement. In practice, this means intentionally seeking God’s guidance during unsettling times, praising Him for the hidden work He’s doing, and trusting that the mess precedes meaningful change. Ultimately, allowing God to flip what shouldn’t stand where He once sat leads to a deeper, more authentic faith journey where your life truly becomes a house of prayer.
