I tried the Clean/Vanilla Girl Aesthetic on my car
If you were to take a look around my room, you’d see that although all the furniture is white, almost all the accessories are lilac purple. Once I got my first car, however, I wanted to keep it simple and clean. Here’s how I made it happen.
1.) White and Black seat covers as I didn’t care for the plain black seats the car came with. These come with a myriad of hooks to keep the covers in place. They’re kind of expensive but, as I’ve now learned with my mom’s purchase of a slightly different product, totally worth it if you want the natural look.
2.) A matching, white quilted steering wheel cover. My mom got this for me for Prime Day so idk the exact price she got it, but it was $12 when I had looked a few days prior.
3.) My car only has two cup holders so I couldn’t justify buying a six pack of coasters on Amazon for $6.99 so I decided to DIY them! So glad I did and they came out super cute! I ended up making some extra ones for my desk area as well.
4.) I was on a DIY high after making the coasters so I decided to make a macrame mirror charm too. The little wooden stick and fake pinecone also double as an air freshener since I often dab them with essential oils.
5.) Here is the actual essential oils diffuser I bought off Temu for dirt cheap. I wouldn’t recommend it tho if your car has the honeycomb model vents bc I could only precariously place it on my dash vents. It occasionally comes off while I’m driving, so I’d stick with a scented mirror charm if your car is similar.
6.) Bag hooks bc I was always having to put my purse on my passenger seat and then move it whenever I have a passenger (which is 99% of the time with 6 younger siblings). I bought these back on July 19, but they finally came today (Aug. 20)! They’re super sturdy tho, so ultimately worth the wait.
7.) LED LiGhTs! I have them all over my room so ofc my car wouldn’t be complete without them.
I have a thin strip which goes around my dashboard and a separate set of 4 for the foot areas. It’s bright enough that I can find anything I drop but dim enough I’m not blinded while driving. 100/10 for me😊 I got them as USB so I could plug both into a cigarette lighter.
8.) I can’t function in clutter and couldn’t justify having a little makeup/lady bag when I always prepare at home, so I kept it simple. Alcohol prep pads to wipe anything and keep my steering wheel cover clean, gum for before meeting up with my friends, and the remote control to my LED lights.

Instead of crochet, you could try felt circles with a waterproof backing, or even personalize plain ceramic tiles with a little paint and sealant. These little details really elevate the 'vanilla' feel. And for the macrame mirror charm, don't stop there! Consider adding a small, dried floral arrangement or even tiny ceramic beads to your charm for an extra touch of natural elegance. Now, about keeping your car smelling amazing. While my essential oil diffuser had its quirks, I've found that small linen sachets filled with dried lavender or vanilla beans placed under the seats work wonders for a subtle, long-lasting scent without any spills. Another trick is using felt pads with essential oils clipped onto your sun visor – much more stable than a vent diffuser for a lasting aroma. Maintaining a clean girl car aesthetic also means staying organized. Beyond just bag hooks, I've found slim, clear storage bins for the trunk and under-seat organizers invaluable for keeping emergency essentials, like those alcohol prep pads, tissues, or a small lint roller, neatly tucked away. This prevents clutter from accumulating and helps maintain that serene, minimalist atmosphere. Finally, don't forget the power of good lighting. My LED strip lights create such a cozy ambiance, especially at night. If you're planning on installing them, spend a little extra time on cable management to hide wires for a truly seamless look. There are also battery-operated puck lights you can stick in footwells or storage compartments for a soft glow without needing to tap into your car's power. It’s all about creating a space that feels calm, organized, and perfectly 'you'!
