But let's be real, sometimes you don't have the time to wait for endless proofing and baking. That's where the magic of Fried Cinnamon Rolls comes in! I recently tried my hand at making these, and honestly, they've become my new go-to when I want something quick, indulgent, and utterly satisfying. My journey started with a strong craving for something like a donut, but with that classic cinnamon swirl goodness. I saw a few ideas on HOW TO MAKE: these, and decided to give it a shot. The beauty of these fried cinnamon kolls (as some people call them!) is how quickly they come together compared to their baked counterparts. You still get that soft, fluffy interior, but with a slightly crisp, golden-brown exterior that just melts in your mouth. It’s truly a game-changer for anyone who loves baking but is short on time. Making the dough is the first step, and it doesn't have to be complicated. I usually start with a simple yeast dough – just flour, sugar, yeast, milk, and butter. Don't be intimidated by yeast; it's quite forgiving! Once you have your dough, roll it out into a rectangle. This is where the fun begins! I generously spread softened butter, a mix of brown sugar, and plenty of cinnamon all over the dough. The more cinnamon, the better, if you ask me! Then, carefully roll it up into a log and slice it into individual rolls. You want them to be about an inch thick so they cook evenly. Now for the frying part – and trust me, it’s not as scary as it sounds! I heat about an inch or two of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to around 350-375°F (175-190°C). It’s crucial to keep an eye on the temperature; too low, and your rolls will be greasy; too high, and they'll burn on the outside before cooking through. I gently drop a few Fried Cinnamon Kolls into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. They only need a couple of minutes per side, until they're beautifully golden brown. The smell alone is enough to make your mouth water! Once they're done, I immediately transfer them to a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. While they're still warm, I like to drizzle them with a simple cream cheese glaze. It's just powdered sugar, a little cream cheese, milk, and a touch of vanilla extract, whisked until smooth. This creamy, tangy glaze perfectly complements the sweet, spicy cinnamon rolls. Sometimes, if I'm feeling extra, I'll even dust them with a bit of powdered sugar for good measure. These fried cinnamon rolls are absolutely perfect for a weekend breakfast, a special brunch, or simply as an indulgent afternoon snack. They're best enjoyed warm, right after you make them. The combination of the warm, soft dough, the gooey cinnamon filling, and the sweet glaze is just heavenly. If you’re looking for a delightful treat that's a bit different from your usual baked goods, I highly recommend giving these a try. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy that classic cinnamon roll flavor with a fun, fried twist!
