「川越でレトロ喫茶に行きたい」「大正時代っぽい雰囲気の喫茶店でゆっくりしたい」と思っている人に向けて、私が行って感じた“過ごし方のコツ”を追記します。 シマノコーヒー大正館は、外観からすでに大正ロマン。扉を開けた瞬間、格子状の梁が見える天井や、ゆるいカーブの壁が目に入って、写真よりも空気感が強いタイプのお店でした。店内は落ち着きすぎるというより、会話が弾む明るさがあって、友達や恋人と「これ見て！」と共有しながら過ごすのが合う印象です。 メニューは、初めてなら自家製プリンアラモードが安心の一択。甘さ控えめで重たくないので、観光で食べ歩きした後でも入りやすいです。もう少し“喫茶店らしいときめき”が欲しいなら、コーンが刺さったパフェもおすすめ。見た目がレトロで、テーブルに来たときのワクワクが強かったです。飲み物は紅茶も良いけれど、店名の通りコーヒーと合わせると全体の満足感が上がりました。 行く時間帯は、私は土日17時で待ち時間なしでしたが、日中の観光ピークはもう少し人が増えそう。静かに過ごしたい場合は、開店直後か夕方寄りが狙い目だと思います。席数は多すぎないので、確実に座りたい日は時間をずらすと安心。 注意点も少し。現金のみなので、小銭や千円札を用意しておくと会計がスムーズです。禁煙なので、たばこが苦手な人でも入りやすいのも良かったところ。 店内には、ちょっとした遊び心でルーレットおみくじのような“つい触りたくなる”仕掛けもあって、カフェというより「大正ロマンの空間ごと楽しむ」場所でした。川越のレトロ喫茶巡りの1軒目にも、締めにも使いやすいので、散策ルートに入れてみてください。
