Be forgiving even when it’s hard🤎

2024/10/7 Edited to

... Read moreYou know, cultivating a truly tender heart isn't something that happens overnight, and I've definitely had my struggles with it. There have been times when I felt so hurt or wronged, and the last thing I wanted to do was extend forgiveness or show compassion. But through my spiritual journey, guided by daily reflections in my journal, I've really discovered the transformative power of tenderheartedness, especially when it comes to forgiveness. For me, being tenderhearted isn't about being weak or letting people walk all over you. Instead, it's about strength – the strength to choose empathy over anger, grace over bitterness, and understanding over judgment. It's about recognizing that everyone is going through something, and often, their actions stem from their own pain. My journal has become an invaluable tool in this process. I often title my entries like 'Commands + Reminders' because it helps me focus on God's word. I highlight 'Bible verses' that speak to forgiveness, 'humility', and 'God's goodness'. These verses aren't just words on a page; they're 'spiritual guidance' that helps me shift my perspective. When I'm struggling to forgive, I turn to passages about God's immense 'grace' and 'patience' with us, and it reminds me to extend that same grace to others. I've found that regular 'prayers' also play a huge role. When I pray for someone who has hurt me, or simply pray for a more tender heart, something shifts within me. It’s not magic, but a gentle softening, a move away from resentment towards a place of peace. This practice helps me to release the burden of holding onto grudges. It frees up so much mental and emotional energy that was previously consumed by negativity. It's a process of gradually opening your heart, even when it feels vulnerable. This practice connects deeply with the idea that 'God always shows favor and grace'. When we extend tenderheartedness, we are mirroring that divine love. It really helps to remember that forgiveness isn't about excusing someone else's behavior, but about freeing yourself from the emotional chains of anger and resentment. It's a gift you give to yourself. This daily dedication to 'spiritual guidance' has helped me navigate difficult relationships and personal disappointments with a newfound sense of calm. Instead of reacting impulsively with anger or hurt, I've learned to pause, reflect, and ask myself how a tender heart would respond. This doesn't mean ignoring boundaries or allowing harmful behavior, but rather addressing situations with compassion and firmness, rather than bitterness. The peace that comes with letting go of grudges is truly profound. It’s a peace that ‘God heals’ and brings, allowing you to move forward with a lighter spirit, knowing that 'God is good' and merciful, and calls us to be the same. If you're also on this path, I encourage you to consider keeping a spiritual journal. It's a wonderful way to process your feelings, document your 'prayers', and keep those powerful 'Bible verses' close. It's a personal space to explore 'forgiveness', practice 'humility', and remind yourself of 'God's goodness' in every situation. Remember, cultivating a tender heart is a journey, not a destination, and every small step toward 'grace' and 'patience' is a victory. It truly changes how you interact with the world and ultimately, how you feel within yourself.

🤍 Asking for Forgiveness Is Hard. Giving It Can Be Harder.
Forgiveness is one of the most difficult things God calls us to do. Sometimes we are the ones who need to say: “I was wrong.” “I’m sorry.” “Will you forgive me?” Other times, we are the ones carrying hurt, disappointment, betrayal, or anger. And God gently asks: “Can you trust
