Today, see the movie "Love Letter from Ama Dear You" at SF Cinema Central, Rama 9.
One of the things that makes me very special about this movie is the Teochew language used throughout the film.
For some... it's probably just the language in the movie.
But for me, the voice of the Teochew language is the voice of memory.
As a child at home, I talked regularly in Teochew, so I heard it almost every day, including the voices of Ama, my parents, my adult relatives, and family conversations.
But over time, the Teochew language that was heard around disappeared.
Today, when you hear Teochew from the screen,
It's like someone opened the door to take me back to my childhood again.
Back to the familiar "voice."
Back to memory
And back to some feelings we might have thought had forgotten.
Besides the language, I feel that this movie has a great deal of family, love, bond and memory.
Sometimes... one movie doesn't make us just "watch."
But it makes us "think."
Anyone who has a chance, check it out.
Especially someone who grew up with a Chinese family and was familiar with Teochew.

การได้ชมภาพยนตร์ที่ใช้ภาษาแต้จิ๋วเป็นสื่อกลางอย่าง "จดหมายรักจากอาม่า Dear You" นั้น ทำให้ผมรู้สึกเชื่อมโยงลึกซึ้งกับรากเหง้าของตัวเองอย่างไม่คาดคิด ผมอยากเล่าเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับความทรงจำที่มีต่อภาษาแต้จิ๋วในชีวิตประจำวันของผม ซึ่งเป็นภาษาที่เคยได้ยินอย่างอบอุ่นจากเสียงพูดของอาม่าและญาติผู้ใหญ่ แม้ว่าในชีวิตประจำวันภาษาแต้จิ๋วจะเริ่มเลือนรางมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ แต่การได้ฟังเสียงนี้จากหน้าจอหนังเหมือนเปิดประตูย้อนกลับไปยังช่วงเวลาที่แสนอบอุ่นและเต็มไปด้วยความรักในครอบครัว ความผูกพันที่เกิดจากการพูดคุยในภาษาถิ่นนี้สร้างรอยยิ้มและน้ำตาในใจพร้อมกัน อีกหนึ่งความน่าสนใจของหนังเรื่องนี้คือการนำเสนอเรื่องราวที่เน้นความสัมพันธ์ในครอบครัว ความรัก ความทรงจำ และการให้อภัย ซึ่งผมมองว่าเป็นหัวใจสำคัญที่ทำให้ผู้ชมรุ่นใหม่และผู้ใหญ่ได้ร่วมสะท้อนความรู้สึกและหวนคิดถึงความผูกพันกับคนในครอบครัว นอกจากนี้ หนังยังเป็นเสมือนการส่งต่อวัฒนธรรม ภาษา และความทรงจำที่มีคุณค่าทางอารมณ์ให้กับคนรุ่นหลัง โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในสังคมที่แต่ละบ้านแทยจิ๋วเริ่มมีการใช้ภาษาถิ่นน้อยลง การได้เห็นภาษานี้มีชีวิตอีกครั้งในหนังจึงเป็นเหมือนการรำลึกถึงรากฐานของตัวเองและครอบครัว สำหรับคนที่เติบโตมาในครอบครัวจีนหรือมีรากเหง้าคล้ายกัน ผมแนะนำจริง ๆ ว่าควรหาโอกาสดูหนังเรื่องนี้ เพราะนอกจากจะได้ประสบการณ์ที่รู้สึกอบอุ่นใจแล้ว ยังเป็นโอกาสดีที่จะได้ทบทวนและรักษาความทรงจำซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของตัวตนเราอย่างแท้จริง
