✨ Introducing The Daddy Wall.✨ @sarah thrifted this magnificent cross stitch piece that says “Any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a daddy” This is dated 1985 so we’re pretty sure someone’s grandma made it completely seriously. We decided to give it a more modern meaning of daddy and create The Daddy Wall.
As Daddy of the Month Pedro Pascal says, daddy is a state of mind. Our long distance Cupcake Crew member @valkyrie_fibers was heavily consulted for help deciding who should be included in the daddies.
We plan to continue to expand The Daddy Wall so let us know in the comments who you think should be inaugurated on to The Daddy Wall.
The concept behind The Daddy Wall really resonated with me because it challenges the traditional notion of what it means to be a daddy. Growing up, I always thought fatherhood was just about biology or legal ties, but this initiative makes it clear that being a daddy is more about presence, love, and support — qualities that anyone can embody regardless of their relationship to a child. When I first heard the phrase "Any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a daddy," I was reminded of some important men in my life who exemplify this sentiment. It’s not always about parenthood roles. For example, a close family friend has always been there as a mentor and emotional guide, and I can see why a community would want to honor different kinds of daddies who uplift others. The modern interpretation of daddy as a state of mind, as quoted by Pedro Pascal, broadens the term beautifully. It acknowledges diverse identities and relationships — which fits perfectly with the inclusive hashtags like #lgbt and #zaddy. For those of us engaging in online communities, this creates space to celebrate figures who inspire and support us in various ways. Expanding The Daddy Wall could mean highlighting iconic personalities, community heroes, or even everyday people who play daddy roles that go beyond stereotypes. Maybe it can include allies who foster safe spaces or role models who break norms and help redefine masculinity. I look forward to seeing who the community nominates next and how this evolving wall of daddies will spark conversations around care, identity, and affection. If you have someone in mind who embodies what it means to be a daddy in the most genuine sense, now’s the perfect time to shout them out and get them recognized on The Daddy Wall.
