How to sleep in a hotel to not be afraid of ghosts??
The fear of ghosts when going to a hotel can happen to everyone (and the main reason why many people can't sleep!) This symptom is called the "First-Night Effect." Our brains are particularly alert when sleeping in exotic places, causing us to hear a few sounds and think far away.
🚪 1.Clear the room open (cut the imaginary stimulus)
Darkness and strange things often make our brain imagine. Do this before turning off the lights:
Close the closet door and bathroom door completely: Do not keep the ajar open, because a dark corner or shadow in the closet will cause us to look at it often. Close it completely will cut out the visual disturbance.
Do not have a cloth hanging on the edge of the door / cabinet: the bathrobe or clothes we hang in the corner, when the light is dimly turned on, it looks like a human shadow, keep it in the closet.
Deal with the Mirror: If the bed faces the mirror directly and feels suspicious when looking at its shadow, find a large towel or shirt to cover the mirror.
💡 2. Don't leave the room completely dark or too quiet.
Leave the bathroom light on: Leave the bathroom light on and bend the bathroom door slightly. When there is a dim light on the floor, the light will reduce the fear of darkness and make us feel controlled in the middle of the night.
Use silence: Silence will make our ears too good to hear the air cut, the sound of the building, or the sound of the pipe, and then tired and thinking, suggesting to leave the TV on (choose a channel that shows cartoons, news, or comedy) and adjust the sound very softly enough for the voice to speak as a friend or to turn on the sound of rain from YouTube on your phone.
🧘♂️ 3. How to think for the heart (using fear logic)
Tell yourself, "This is the sound of a building / the sound of an air conditioner": If you hear the sound of a tap, immediately think of it as the sound of a building or the sound of an air compressor, which is typical in every hotel.
Pay money to stay, don't share a room with anyone: think realistically, we lost the check-in money properly. This room is our right tonight.
Carry "mind anchors": Whether it's amulets, egg coughs, glitter lines, or even favorite dolls from the house, these have psychological effects, helping the brain feel "shielded" and reducing stress agents very well.

ประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวเวลาไปพักโรงแรมทำให้ผมรู้สึกกลัวเสียงแปลกๆ หรือความมืดในห้องมาก โดยเฉพาะในคืนแรกที่เรียกกันว่า "First-Night Effect" ที่สมองตื่นตัวสูงและไวกว่าปกติ ทำให้ได้ยินเสียงธรรมดาเป็นเรื่องน่ากลัวขึ้นมาทันที ผมเคยลองใช้วิธีเปิดไฟในห้องน้ำทิ้งไว้พร้อมแง้มประตูเล็กน้อย เพื่อให้มีแสงสลัวจากไฟห้องน้ำเข้ามาในห้องนอน และเปิดเสียงเบาๆ ของรายการโทรทัศน์หรือเสียงธรรมชาติ เช่น เสียงฝนตกคลอเบาๆ ซึ่งก็ช่วยลดความรู้สึกวังเวงได้ดีมาก บางคืนถึงกับเปิดเพลงเพราะปิดไฟ แต่เสียงนั้นยังพรางความเงียบที่ทำให้รู้สึกไม่สบายใจ นอกจากนั้น การจัดห้องให้เรียบร้อย อาทิ ปิดประตูตู้เสื้อผ้าแน่นหนา ไม่มีผ้าหรือเสื้อผ้าแขวนในจุดที่มองเห็นง่าย ก็ช่วยป้องกันไม่ให้จินตนาการไปไกลจนกลัวผี หรือมองเห็นเป็นเงาของสิ่งของต่างๆ ที่เหมือนมีคนอยู่ในห้อง อีกอย่างที่ผมใช้คือการพก "ตัวช่วยยึดเหนี่ยวจิตใจ" เช่นพระเครื่องหรือของสะสมชิ้นเล็กๆ ที่มีความหมายกับตัวเอง เวลามองหรือจับจะรู้สึกปลอดภัยและใจสงบขึ้น ซึ่งช่วยลดฮอร์โมนความเครียดและทำให้หลับง่ายขึ้นมาก สิ่งสำคัญที่สุดคือการปรับวิธีคิด เช่น เตือนตัวเองว่าเสียงที่ได้ยินคือเสียงของอุปกรณ์ในโรงแรม ไม่ใช่เสียงสิ่งลี้ลับ หรือคิดว่าเราจ่ายเงินเพื่อสิทธิในการพักผ่อนในห้องนี้ ทำให้รู้สึกมั่นใจและปลอดภัยขึ้นเยอะ เพราะบางทีความกลัวเป็นเพียงภาพลวงตาและความคิดที่ขยายความรู้สึกไม่มั่นคงของเราเอง ถ้าใครประสบปัญหาคล้ายกัน ลองนำเทคนิคเหล่านี้ไปใช้ดู รับรองว่าคืนแรกที่ไปพักจะลดความกลัวและนอนได้สบายขึ้นแน่นอนครับ
