Reorganizing my bookshelf and game shelf turned out to be a surprisingly therapeutic experience. When I first saw my cluttered shelves, it was overwhelming—the games stacked without order and books mixed in haphazardly, which made it hard to find what I wanted or appreciate the collection. Taking some time off during vacation allowed me to rethink the layout and arrange everything more thoughtfully. I decided to group my books by genre and reading status: placing read books on the bottom shelves gave me a sense of accomplishment, while separating dark romance and smut titles on the top and right middle made my shelf visually organized and catered to my current mood. The non-smut and dark romance books on the left middle allowed for easier browsing when I’m in the mood for something lighter or more intense. One challenge I encountered was that the shelves on my mantle were unevenly divided, which initially stressed me out, but I soon realized that imperfection can add character. The key is finding balance and flow that suits your personal style—not every shelf needs to be perfectly symmetrical. Seeing my board games lined up neatly also sparked joy, reminding me of all the fun weekends ahead playing favorites like Monopoly, Clue, and newer games like Cutthroat Committee and Hues and Cues. I even rediscovered some forgotten gems that had been buried under piles. This whole process inspired me to maintain a regular reorganization habit.
