Okay, so you know those moments where you just have to go 'Ope 🤭'? Well, let me tell you about mine from the other night. My husband and I were out for a rare, much-needed date night at this cozy little Italian restaurant we love. Everything was going great – good food, good wine, great company. We were just enjoying ourselves, chatting about our day, when I noticed something a little... off. There was a guy at a nearby table, clearly by himself, and he kept glancing over. At first, I thought nothing of it. Maybe he was just looking around. But then the glances started turning into lingering stares, and even a couple of smiles directed my way. I tried to ignore it, focusing on my husband and our conversation. I felt a bit awkward, a mix of flattered and annoyed, but mostly just wanted to enjoy our time without any weirdness. As the evening went on, this guy actually made an excuse to walk past our table to 'go to the restroom' and made a point of making eye contact and giving me a little wink. Seriously?! Right there, with my husband sitting across from me! I just politely looked away, my face probably burning a little. My husband didn't notice a thing, thankfully, or at least he didn't let on. I decided not to say anything in the moment; I didn't want to cause a scene or ruin our evening. But, you know me, I can't keep a secret, especially not from him. So, later that night, when we were back home, relaxing on the couch, I decided it was time for the big reveal. I took a deep breath, looked at him, and just blurted it out, 'Honey, you're not going to believe what happened tonight at the restaurant.' He looked at me, totally intrigued, and I told him the whole story – how this guy was staring, the wink, everything. His initial reaction? Priceless. First, his eyes went wide with a mix of surprise and a little bit of protective indignation. Then, a slow grin spread across his face. He started laughing! Not in a mean way, but more of a 'can you believe the nerve of some people?' kind of laugh. He said something like, 'Are you serious? While I was sitting right there?!' He pretended to be all tough, puffing out his chest, and then gave me a big hug, joking that I'm still 'got it' and he needs to keep a closer eye on me. It actually turned into a really funny conversation, and we spent the next half hour speculating about what the guy was thinking and what my husband would have done if he'd noticed. It just reinforced how much I love his sense of humor and how he always makes me feel safe and cherished, even in silly situations like this. It was a good reminder that open communication, even about slightly uncomfortable things, can just strengthen your bond and lead to some great #couplescomedy moments.
