How I Saved My Damaged Hair 🤍

#haircare #haircareroutine #damagedhair #selfcare #helpwithmyhair

My hair became super dry, dull, and frizzy after transitioning from red to blonde hair over this past summer. I also used an excessive amount of heat on my hair almost daily. In a search to find my natural curl / wavy pattern again, and also to regain confidence, I decided to dive into a solid hair care routine. Some people may not agree on some of the products I use or how I use them, this is just what personally worked for me. Everyone is different and has preferences in terms of what we want in our products and we believe is good versus bad, or what works for our hair.

Additional Tips:

-Cut down to the amount of heat you use. I am notorious for using straightening irons, blow dryer brushes, and curling irons whenever I want to feel “pretty.” After using these products and keeping consistent, I’ve been able to style and feel more comfortable with my natural hair. I still do use heat tools here and there, but have cut down my usage significantly to only about once a week.

-Hair trimmings are more important than you think. I am doing all of this in an effort to revive my hair, but also to stimulate growth. When I got into the salon I tell them I want as little possible taken off, but enough to remove the “dead” hair. This helps to keep your hair from being weighed down and straggly. I’m sure there are more benefits to hair cuts, but I also am making this post based on personal experience and preferences.

-Supplements could also play a role in my hair transition. For anyone who wants to search into those I use the “NOW Hair, Skin, and Nails” and the “Vital Proteins Collagen Gummies,” following the recommendations on the bottle.

-Hydration also plays a big role. I started drinking proper amounts of water per day and have noticed that sort of brought back the “life” to my hair after it being dull for so long. Proper amounts of hydration is good for you all around not just your hair so this is highly recommended!!!

... Read moreReviving damaged hair can start with understanding the essentials of a good hair care routine. Transitioning hair colors, especially from red to blonde, often results in dryness and breakage due to the chemical processes involved. One of the first steps should be minimizing heat styling, which can further damage already fragile hair. Techniques like air-drying or using heat protection sprays can help mitigate these effects. Regular hair trims are also beneficial to remove split ends and promote healthy growth. While many people prefer to avoid the salon, getting the right cut can prevent additional damage and help your hair look healthier overall. Scheduling appointments every 6-8 weeks can significantly improve the health and appearance of your hair. Incorporating oils and hair masks into your routine can provide added nourishment. Products like coconut oil or jojoba oil are excellent for deep-conditioning treatments. Using hair masks specifically designed for damage repair can also make a noticeable difference in texture and strength, especially when used consistently. Moreover, hydration is crucial—not just for skin but also for hair health. Drinking sufficient water can help keep hair hydrated from the inside out. Nutritional supplements such as biotin or collagen can also contribute to healthier hair growth and vitality. Always remember, what works for one person may not work for another, so it’s essential to understand your unique hair needs. Transitioning back to healthy hair is a journey, so be patient and give your hair the time it needs to recover.
