1844:Erè oswa Revelasyon?
The year 1844 holds profound significance in many Christian theological discussions, especially linked to the interpretation of the biblical sanctuary and prophetic fulfillment. Based on my personal study and observation, this date has sparked widespread debate between those viewing it as a pivotal revelation and those considering it a theological error. Historically, 1844 is noted for its connection to the 'Great Disappointment,' where early Adventists expected Christ's second coming. However, rather than an event, it marked a shift in understanding the heavenly sanctuary described in Hebrews 8 and 9. This scripture outlines the transition from earthly to heavenly ministry, which many believers interpret as Christ entering the Holy of Holies in the heavenly sanctuary on October 22, 1844, initiating a new phase in divine judgment. I have found that reflecting on the event of October 22, 1863, when some recognized this heavenly sanctuary truth, helps appreciate how it shaped movements such as Mission Mondiale. This mission sought to spread the understanding of sanctuary doctrine globally. The Celestial Sanctuary theme, often referenced alongside this year, encourages us to move beyond disappointment towards deeper spiritual insight. In my own faith journey, exploring Hebrews 8-9 and the sanctuary’s symbolic role has enhanced my grasp of redemption’s ongoing process. Whether one sees 1844 as error or revelation, it undeniably invites us to examine the nature of divine timing and judgment. Engaging with these ideas enriches personal faith and offers a meaningful context to mission work and worship.
