Golden Pothos From Prop to Pot in 60 Days
I love me a good frugal plant expansion!!!! 🙌🏽 In only 60 days we’ve got a freshly potted plant that’s thriving!!!
Here’s how I snipped a vine from one of my mature Pothos plants and turned those cuttings into a brand new plant to grow my collection in 60 days.
Use these tips to have a successful propagation experience with no fancy rooting hormones or chemicals were used on this batch:
1️⃣ Use sharp, clean shears to avoid stem rot.
2️⃣ Keep cuttings in clear jars so you can track root growth.
3️⃣ Use room temperature water and change it weekly or when cloudy. There’s no need dump it daily. Pothos release their own rooting hormones into the water, so topping off clear water works best.
4️⃣ Roots only need a few inches before planting, but I’ve had amazing success letting them reach a half a foot to a foot long before potting. Those plants are now vining into their second year.
5️⃣ Enjoy the process. Even if you lose a cutting or two, it’s worth it. Learning something new is powerful, and who knows? Your frugal hobby could even turn into extra income 🌱💚
