Week of Internship Fits ✨🌸

Hey sweeties!

I can’t believe it is already mid summer and I am approaching my 4th week of my internship. Here are my first week of work fits that I wanted to show off!!

This was end of May in NY so it was a little chilly. I definitely would not wear the outfits with sweaters now since it is a heat wave in NY right now 🔥

I bought majority of my internship clothes at H&M since they had some great intro to corporate work pieces. Since I am just starting out in corporate American, I did not splurge on my intern budget.

Let me know in the comments what outfit is your favorite!

When I started my corporate internship, I totally felt the pressure to look professional without breaking the bank. It's not just about looking good; it's about being comfortable and confident all week long. One of the best pieces of advice I got was to start with a versatile foundation. Think staples that you can easily mix and match. For example, a good pair of black pants and some versatile khaki pants are absolute lifesavers. You can pair them with almost anything! I found a lot of my core pieces at H&M, just like in my first week's looks, because they offer stylish options at student-friendly prices. Don't be afraid to check out sales racks or even thrift stores for hidden gems. For tops, focus on breathable materials, especially if you're dealing with summer heat waves or just long days in an office. Classic white tops are incredibly versatile. You can layer them under a black vest for a sharp, modern look on Monday, or under a business casual jacket. I also found that having a few nice blouses or button-downs instantly elevates an outfit. When it comes to the “what to wear first day of internship” query, my personal rule of thumb is to err on the side of slightly more formal. You can always tone it down later once you get a feel for the company culture. Observe what your colleagues are wearing. For a setting like a health insurance company, for instance, a more traditional business casual approach (think tailored trousers, a nice blouse, and perhaps a blazer or cardigan) would likely be appropriate. Comfort is absolutely non-negotiable! You'll be spending long hours, so comfortable shoes are a must – save the heels for special occasions. And even if it's scorching outside, remember that office air conditioning can be brutal. Always have a light sweater or cardigan handy. I learned this quickly in New York; one day it was chilly, the next a heatwave, so layers were key. A stylish Brandy sweater or a simple dark Brandy cardigan can be perfect for this. Finally, remember that “business casual” can mean different things depending on where you work. Generally, it means avoiding jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, and anything too revealing. Instead, opt for well-fitting trousers, skirts of appropriate length, blouses, button-up shirts, and polished footwear. You don't need to splurge on designer labels; brands like H&M and Express (where I found some great items) offer fantastic options to build a professional and affordable internship wardrobe. It's all about making smart choices that allow you to feel confident and ready to tackle your tasks!
