The Truth Behind Vet Med
Unfortunately it is not all puppies and kittens like everyone says. Vet med is struggling and many do not even realize the true extent. Many believe Vet med is just for the money, but the truth is we don’t even make nearly enough. We work in this feild because we love animals and being able to help them.
Animal medicine is harder than human medicine, you don’t only have to know one species.. you have to know many. You also cannot communicate with your patients regarding what’s wrong, you have to show them compassion and be gentle to help them through working with strangers. Many forget this, especially those who discuss wages.
Clients can be mean.. the amount of verbal abuse my team deals with daily is disgusting, people truly need to realize pets are not luxuries they are a commitment and cost money.
Since Covid the amount of animals per veterinarians has sky rocketed, they are overbooked and worked, their technicians are struggling to deal with the staffing shortage and keeping up with the workload.
We do build connections with your animal and we love them as our own, we get to see your animal grow just as you do and we get to help them in their most vulnerable points. Unfortunately sometimes we are the ones to hold them as they cross the rainbow bridge, and it hurts us as well.. but this is what we do and the job continues.
