In my case, the chickens came before the eggs
I use to have 160+ hens. Don’t ask…it was chicken math🤷🏻♀️. I’ve scaled down to about 25, but that won’t last….i just need more. I do like a variety of colors of eggs….
Raising hens can be a rewarding and fascinating endeavor. Did you know that different breeds of chickens lay eggs in various colors? For instance, the Ameraucana breed produces blue eggs, while the Leghorn lays white eggs. Additionally, incorporating a range of hens can enhance not just the variety of egg colors but also their nutritional profile, offering benefits like higher omega-3 content. Besides aesthetic appeal, keeping chickens can also promote a sustainable lifestyle. Fresh eggs from free-range hens not only taste better but are healthier compared to store-bought alternatives, as they tend to be richer in vitamins and free from harmful additives. It's essential, however, to ensure they have adequate space, a balanced diet, and proper care to thrive in a backyard setting. As interest in home-raised poultry continues to grow, resources and community support are readily available for new poultry enthusiasts. Whether you’re a novice or have been raising chickens for years, there are always new tips and tricks to learn, making chicken keeping a continuously evolving and enjoyable project.
