June 15th National Lobster Day
Did you know that June 15th is National Lobster Day? Here's an interesting fact about lobsters: their blood, called hemolymph, is blue! This is because it contains molecules called hemocyanin, which carry oxygen and have copper, giving the blood its distinct blue color.
Other invertebrates, like snails and spiders, also have blue blood. In contrast, human blood is red due to iron-based hemoglobin molecules. (Source: treehugger.com)
If you're planning to prepare lobster for dinner, remember not to boil them alive. It's always good to respect what we consume. #NationalLobsterDay #LobsterFacts #BlueBlood #Respect #whatdayisitanyway
