📖 Book name: None Of This Is True

✍🏻 Author: Lisa Jewel

🤯 Genre: Thriller

🌟 My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

💭 My review: Oh. My. Gosh! I never knew what to believe was true and a lie. Josie was eerie and unsettling. I kept wondering throughout if she was trying to make herself out as the victim or if maybe she really was the victim. The ending with the Roxy and Erin really helped everything fall into place because it felt like they had something to hide. The slow reveals and twists had me pausing to process what I read. Also, I highly recommend the audiobook! The music and full cast really added to the story!

... Read moreOkay, so let's dive a little deeper into why "None of This Is True" by Lisa Jewell completely captivated me, especially considering some of the specific things people are curious about! First off, if you're asking about the "cast" for "None of This Is True," you absolutely need to experience the audiobook. I typically lean towards physical books, but for this one, grabbing the audio version was one of the best decisions I made. The OCR picked up on it, and it's true: featuring the incredible talents of Nicola Walker and Louise Brealey, along with a full cast, transforms this story into an immersive theatrical experience. It’s not just narration; it’s a performance. The seamless integration of music and sound design isn’t just background noise; it actively amplifies the suspense and tension. Hearing distinct voices for each character, especially as the lines between truth and lie blur, made the psychological thriller elements even more potent and chilling. It truly felt like I was listening to a high-production radio drama unfold, making those eerie moments jump out even more. Then there's the book cover – which, as the OCR noted, features striking houses reflected in dark water. This imagery is so perfectly chosen and really sets the mood for the entire novel. It’s haunting, mysterious, and immediately tells you that you're about to delve into something deep and unsettling. The reflection in the water visually represents the distorted perceptions and hidden truths within the story. It makes you wonder what secrets lie beneath the calm surface, mirroring the characters' carefully constructed facades and the dark realities they conceal. It's a cover that makes you pause and ponder, much like the book itself. When you see "None of This Is True" being mentioned on lists, perhaps even as one of "ELLE's Best Thriller Mystery Books 2024," it's for good reason. Lisa Jewell doesn't just write a thriller; she crafts a masterclass in psychological suspense. What makes it stand out is its relentless exploration of unreliable narration and identity. As I said in my initial review, I constantly questioned what was real. Josie's character is so complex – is she a cunning manipulator, or genuinely lost and damaged? The way Jewell slowly peels back the layers, revealing past traumas and present obsessions, is brilliant. The twists aren't just plot devices; they're fundamental shifts in your understanding of the characters and their motivations, particularly when it comes to Roxy and Erin. It’s a book that demands your full attention, rewarding you with a genuinely unsettling and thought-provoking experience. This isn't a thriller that relies on cheap scares. Instead, it builds an almost suffocating sense of dread, making you question human nature and the dark corners of obsession. It’s about how far someone will go to rewrite their story and claim a life they believe they deserve. The ending, without giving anything away, is profoundly impactful and stays with you long after the final chapter. If you’re looking for a book that will truly mess with your head, keep you guessing, and offer a rich, immersive experience (especially via that incredible audiobook), then "None of This Is True" should be at the very top of your TBR pile. It’s a compelling journey into the darker side of human psyche, and one I highly recommend.

While I loved this book I have to be honest, it’s kinda sad that the book title gives it away! I wish it was a bit more of a mystery gathering than letting us know off the bat that there is going to be lying and cheating. I will say, the ending has me wondering whose side to believe! While I be
