I totally feel like the vibes on this app are so great. Everyone using Lemon8 is welcoming, nice, and the content is so FUN! It’s just chill. BUT the interaction is just not here. The views can be so good, but the interaction does not match it at all. Starting conversations is definitely the way to go on this app, GRABBING someone’s attention is definitely the best way to get interaction on this app. I think the app has potential, but time will really tell about the rest. What do you think? #letschat#letsbefriends#lemon8#interactwiththis#lemon8interaction

... Read moreHey Lemon8 fam! So, I shared my thoughts recently about feeling like interaction on this app is a bit… quiet, despite all the amazing vibes and content. It really got me thinking, and I've seen a few of you wondering the same thing. What’s the deal with views being high but comments and saves not quite matching up? I mean, who doesn't want to see more 'XOXO' in their comments, right? It feels like we're all here with these vibrant, heart-shaped ideas, but sometimes they just don't quite land with the engagement we hoped for.
After puzzling over this, I've started to form some theories and even tried out a few things myself. One big thought is the algorithm. It feels different here compared to other platforms. Is it prioritizing discovery over deep engagement? Maybe it's pushing content to new eyes, which explains the good views, but not necessarily to people who are already invested in your niche or willing to comment right away. It's almost like everyone is politely observing, which is lovely, but doesn't always spark a conversation. This unique interaction pattern is definitely something we're all trying to figure out.
Another factor could be the user base itself. We're all here for inspiration, aesthetics, and positive vibes. Perhaps the culture is less about rapid-fire commenting and more about consuming beautiful content. It's a different kind of social energy. But that doesn't mean we can't encourage more connection! I've found that being super intentional about starting conversations in my captions really helps. Instead of just sharing, try asking a specific question, like 'What's your go-to coffee shop order?' or 'Have you tried this new trend?' The more direct and personal the prompt, the better.
Also, don't underestimate the power of engaging with others first. It’s like throwing a pebble in a pond – those ripples come back to you. I've made it a point to spend time not just scrolling, but actively commenting on posts I genuinely love. Leaving thoughtful, specific comments, not just generic emojis, can really make a difference. When you show up for others, they're more likely to show up for you. It builds a mini-community around your interests.
Content types also play a huge role. While pretty flat lays are gorgeous, sometimes a more 'behind-the-scenes' or 'real talk' post sparks more conversation. People love authenticity and relatability. Think about sharing a small struggle, a lesson learned, or even just a funny anecdote related to your topic. It opens the door for others to share their similar experiences. And don't forget video content! Short, engaging videos often have a higher chance of grabbing attention and prompting a quick reaction.
And finally, consistency is key! Showing up regularly, even if it's a few times a week, keeps your content in the feed and gives people more opportunities to engage. Pair that with relevant, niche-specific hashtags (like those '#lemon8interaction' ones we see!) to help new users discover your posts. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, especially when building a truly interactive space. It might not be the same rapid-fire interaction you see elsewhere, but the quality of connection here can be really special if we all put in the effort. What do you think, Lemon8 community? How do you make your posts stand out and encourage those lovely conversations?
I also think it has a lot to do with making sure your posts and content are able to grab people’s attention AND be something they like. I have noticed bigger creators tend to get interaction no matter what
