My First Apartment taught me so much about myself.

Okay so let me give you a little backstory about HOW I ended up with my apartment and what I learned from the experience.

The experience was 10/10. I thoroughly enjoyed having a bigger space rather than being confined to a small private room like my freshmen year which was a year prior at that time which was 2019. I absolutely adored my roommate and still keep in touch for the most part to this day. My rent was not cheap but it was reasonable compared to other apartments around my old university charging 700-800 dollars for rent. I have amenities and inclusion with my rent so I was genuinely satisfied.

Here is the story of how I got my apartment:

The first story was about how I got my apartment, I applied for housing on campus for the following year after the university went remote for the reminder of the beginning of 2020. Its Fall 2020 and i began to noticed that I didn’t have my room assignment yet and school was very soon, I think like 3 to 4 weeks. I called housing to find out what happened and basically I was told I needed to find somewhere else to stay. With not much time left but enough time to find somewhere else to stay, I searched for apartments around school and I was able to get my room.

The lessons i learned from living alone was just because you have a roommate doesn’t justify you won’t get lonely. I didn’t expect to become close with my roommate due to my own trust issues lol. We lived together and share a space, she was not best friend. We talked, ate together, i meet her friends as well. But that didn’t mean we were going to be close. I constantly have had that mentality since I’ve been in college.

Second thing BABBBBAYYYYEEE THAT RENT ADDS UP IF YOU AREN’T CAREFUL. You understand your mother more after seeing a bill that high, you can only apologize 😂

Lastly, you find out how you live from that apartment. I am a quiet person and just mind my own business, the house reflected that. It was really quiet in the house a lot of days and I appreciated it. Don’t get me wrong, I played my music in the house most definitely but had to be mindful of my neighbors who lived next door. But those are my lessons that I keep with me so once I graduate college and move, I know what to look for in terms of places to live.
