Son son first day on the job 🥰

2025/12/14 Edited to

... Read moreWatching your stepson embark on his first day at a new job is such a bittersweet, proud moment! I remember when he sent me that gleeful mirror selfie, proudly displaying his new ID badge. It instantly brought back all those memories of his journey to get here. It’s not just a new job; it’s a whole new chapter, and as a parent (or step-parent!), you want to do everything you can to set them up for success. For anyone out there whose stepson or child is starting a new role, here are a few things I’ve learned about supporting them through this exciting transition: 1. Pre-Game Prep is Key: Before the big day, we made sure to go over the basics. Things like picking out a professional yet comfortable outfit – like a crisp blue polo shirt and smart black pants, ensuring they have all their documents ready, and perhaps even doing a dry run of the commute. Getting a good night's sleep and having a solid breakfast are often overlooked but so crucial for that first impression. It helps calm those inevitable 'first day jitters!' 2. The First Day Experience: I always advise them to be a sponge on day one. Listen more than you speak, take notes, and don't be afraid to ask clarifying questions. It shows engagement and a willingness to learn. Being polite, introducing yourself to new colleagues, and observing workplace culture are also vital. Remember, everyone was new once, so finding a friendly face can make all the difference. That ID badge isn't just for entry; it's a symbol of belonging! 3. Post-Work Debrief (Optional, but Helpful!): When they get home, let them lead the conversation. Some might want to spill all the details, others might be exhausted. A simple 'How was your day?' and a listening ear can make them feel supported. Avoid overwhelming them with too many questions. Offer encouragement and acknowledge their efforts, especially if they mention feeling overwhelmed or challenged. 4. Navigating Stepparent Dynamics: As a step-parent, celebrating these milestones can sometimes feel a little different, but it’s just as important. Show your excitement and pride genuinely. Offer practical support without overstepping boundaries. Maybe it’s a packed lunch, a new work bag, or simply a heartfelt message of encouragement. My biggest takeaway is to be consistent in your support and celebrate their achievements, big or small. It builds confidence and strengthens your bond. Starting a new job is a huge milestone, marking growth and new opportunities. Seeing him step into this new role, full of hope, is incredibly rewarding. Every parent wants to see their child thrive, and being there for them during these pivotal moments is what truly matters. Here's to all the stepsons (and sons!) embarking on their new adventures!

How I ACTUALLY landed my first remote job 💻
It seems kind of obvious how to land a remote role when you're in one, but I can imagine if you've never had a remote or desk job, it can seem like an abstract cloud of unknown. Like where do you begin? To be honest, you just need the same skills and experience as you would any desk job.

Job & Proverbs
Lately, the books of Job and Proverbs have me hooked. ✨📖 Job is teaching me what it truly means to trust God even when life doesn’t make sense, when the pain is heavy, and when the answers don’t come right away. His story reminds me that faith is not just for the easy moments, but for the hard o
