High-Protein Cozy Baked ZitišŸ

There’s something about a cheesy baked pasta that is hearty, high in protein, and super easy to make ahead for lunches or dinners all week!

INGREDIENTS

(Serves 6)

• 1 box ziti pasta noodles (8 oz total, I used chickpea pasta for more protein!)

• 1 ½ lbs ground beef (I used 96/4)

• 2 1/2 cups marinara sauce, divided

• ½ cup cottage cheese

• 4 oz shredded cheese (I used low fat)

• 1 egg

• 1 tbsp olive oil

• 1 tbsp Italian seasoning

• 2 cloves minced garlic

• Salt & pepper, to taste

šŸ‘©ā€šŸ³ INSTRUCTIONS

1ļøāƒ£ Cook pasta according to package directions.

2ļøāƒ£ While pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a skillet. Once hot, add garlic and sautĆ© for about 1 minute.

3ļøāƒ£ Add ground beef and seasonings to the skillet and cook until done, breaking into crumbles.

4ļøāƒ£ Preheat oven to 375°F and spray a 9Ɨ13 casserole dish with cooking spray.

5ļøāƒ£ In a large mixing bowl, add ground beef, pasta, 2 cups marinara, half of the mozzarella, cottage cheese, and egg.

6ļøāƒ£ Add ½ cup of marinara to the bottom of the casserole dish and spread with a spoon. Then top with contents of the mixing bowl.

7ļøāƒ£ Top with another ½ cup of marinara and remaining cheese.

8ļøāƒ£ Bake for 25 minutes (I placed it under the broiler for 1–2 minutes after baking for that perfect golden top).

9ļøāƒ£ Divide into 6 servings and top with fresh basil.

This baked ziti has become a staple in our house — simple ingredients, minimal effort, and so satisfying. Perfect for a cozy night in or meal prepping for the week.

Love a good baked ziti! Cottage cheese is such a smart addition for extra protein and creaminess. šŸ˜‹
