Honestly, handmade gifts feel meaningless
I know handmade gifts are supposed to be “thoughtful” and “personal,” but honestly, I feel awkward whenever someone gives me one. Don’t get me wrong—I appreciate the effort, but there’s something about holding a gift that clearly took hours of work and not knowing how to respond that just makes me uncomfortable. I end up smiling, thanking them, and then feeling guilty if I don’t use it or if I don’t love it as much as I probably should.
It’s like there’s an unspoken pressure to react perfectly because someone poured their time and energy into it. With store-bought gifts, I don’t feel that weight—if I like it, great; if not, no one’s feelings are deeply tied to it.
Am I overthinking it, or does anyone else secretly feel embarrassed receiving handmade gifts too?

It came from the heart and most handmade gifts take time to make. That individual didn’t have to give you anything, but they thought of you. It has so much more meaning and symbolism when someone makes you something. Anyone could go buy you a gift, the bought the supplies and made something they thought you’d like and that’s beautiful.
