I bought a new sectional, but they were going to charge $100 extra for delivery and set up. So I thought, ok I will save the money and can set it up myself!!
Ummmm! They delivered each couch to my living area and left them in the box. I had to unbox each piece, take each out of the plastic wrap, and add legs. So FOUR HOURS later I am exhausted and this how far I've come. My house is a complete disaster and I am beat! Now I have to find my home. Was it worth it? Yes, but....
Word of advice... PAY THE EXTRA MONEY FOR SETUP! 🤦🏻♀️
-Side note: I have doggies, and found these awesome couch covers on Amazon! They are a close color match and are water proof! How cool is that?
... Read moreWow, getting a new sectional is always exciting, right? But my recent experience with a new light-colored sectional was a real lesson learned! I totally get the desire to save a few bucks, especially when delivery and setup fees can be so steep. Thinking I could easily handle the 'DIY sofa' assembly myself to save that $100, I was in for a rude awakening. My living room quickly turned into a chaotic scene with cardboard boxes, plastic wrap, and tools scattered everywhere, just like you might see in a 'messy living room' after furniture delivery. Four hours later, I was completely beat! So, if you're eyeing a 'chaise sofa modular' or any 'living room sofa' and thinking about self-assembly, here are a few things to consider from my personal experience.
First off, if you absolutely must go the DIY route, prepare for battle! Make sure you have plenty of clear space. My living area became a disaster zone in minutes. Have the right tools ready – a good screwdriver, maybe some pliers, and definitely a second pair of hands if possible. Those instructions sometimes assume you’re an expert furniture builder! Unboxing alone can take a while, dealing with all the 'cardboard boxes' and 'plastic wrap'. Honestly, that $100 would have been worth every penny to avoid the exhaustion and mess.
Now, beyond assembly woes, choosing the right sectional is key. Many of you might be looking for a 'beige color sofa' or thinking about 'layout how to place a sectional in a small living room'. For a 'beige color sofa', I love how versatile it is, but be warned – it shows everything! Having durable, washable fabric is a must, especially if you have pets or kids. When it comes to layout, especially for a 'couch corner' or a 'living room with sectional sofa' in a tight space, measure, measure, measure! Use painter's tape on the floor to outline the dimensions before you buy. A 'chaise sofa modular' can be a lifesaver for flexibility, allowing you to reconfigure the pieces to fit your space or change up the look.
And speaking of space, if you're looking for a 'sectional sofa for basement', consider a few extra points. Basements can sometimes be damp or have less natural light, so choose materials that are mold-resistant and colors that brighten the space. Comfort is king down there, often needing extra cozy seating for movie nights or game days.
My favorite silver lining from this whole ordeal was finding those amazing pet-friendly couch covers! Since I have doggies, keeping my 'light-colored sectional' clean is a priority. I stumbled upon these 'textured couch cushion cover' options on Amazon that were a near-perfect color match and totally waterproof. They're fantastic for 'protecting the furniture from pets' and have saved me so much worry about spills or muddy paws. It's truly a game-changer for maintaining a clean and stylish look, even with furry friends around. So, while my assembly was a nightmare, at least I found a practical solution to keep my new sofa looking great!
That is massive a sectional is perfect 😍❤️
