Every scar, every bruise, every wound tells a story. St. John Chrysostom reminds us to walk through life without struggle would mean never stepping onto the battlefield.. never standing up for faith, never defending what matters, never resisting the pull of sin and despair.
Wounds are not marks of failure, but of courage. They reveal that we have chosen the harder path: to keep showing up, to keep believing, to keep loving, even when it costs us. Just as Christ’s own wounds became signs of victory, so too our wounds remind us that we are not defeated but refined.
If you are scarred, weary, or battered, take heart.. it is proof that you are still in the fight. And God sees every strike you’ve endured and every battle you’ve faced. Strength is not found in being untouched, but in being transformed by the fight and still rising again.
