Honestly, having a few cans or cartons of soup in your house has been a total game-changer for me. With ADHD, I get so hyperfocused that I can completely ignore basic needs like eating—until my stomach starts growling and I realize I literally have nothing ready to eat. It’s the worst feeling ever: staring at a half-empty fridge, checking the same spots three times, debating whether I can actually make something edible with random ingredients… and then panicking and chugging coffee just to survive. Soup solves that. Even just five minutes on the stove and suddenly you have something warm, filling, and easy that doesn’t require decision fatigue. I try to keep a mix—pea soup when I want comfort, Tom Kha Kai for something fancy, clear veggie or chicken for simple salt cravings, and even spicy Indonesian peanut soup when I need a kick. It’s small, but it makes life way easier on those scattered-brain days.
