One strategy that consistently worked for me was establishing a calm and predictable morning schedule. We would wake up early enough to have enough time for breakfast, a little playtime, and chatting about what to expect that day. This helped prevent rushed mornings, which tend to increase anxiety. Another helpful approach is discussing the positive aspects of school – like seeing friends, fun activities, and learning new things. Sometimes, reading books or watching shows about school helped my child relate better and build excitement. If the reluctance continues, I found it useful to communicate with the teacher to understand any challenges the child might be facing during the school day. Sometimes, a simple adjustment can make a big difference. Lastly, showing empathy and patience is crucial. Children pick up on parental emotions, so staying calm and positive helps reassure them that school is a safe and welcoming environment. Over time, with consistent support, the “I don’t wanna go to school” feelings usually decrease, and children develop a more confident, positive attitude toward their education.
