... Read moreElite universities, such as Harvard, have been known to provide substantial advantages to graduates. These institutions not only create high entrance barriers and demand significant tuition fees, but they also foster invaluable social networks that can play a crucial role in career advancement. Research indicates that alumni from prestigious universities often enjoy higher starting salaries and better job placements compared to their peers from less renowned institutions. Moreover, the culture within elite schools tends to emphasize networking and connections, which can lead to lucrative job opportunities. Many employers hold these degrees in high regard, often associating them with diligence, intelligence, and a strong work ethic. However, it’s essential to recognize that the value of education also stems from individual effort and personal choices. Students from non-elite schools can still achieve remarkable success through perseverance and skill development. The discourse on the necessity and impact of elite education continues to evolve, inviting diverse opinions and insights from various perspectives.

But I chose to go to community college first because obviously with a 3.0 GPA and a 960 SAT, I had no choice. Don’t judge me, I have a learning disability and no one is perfect. I chose to transfer to a state university because I know that they had a good program. I’m from North Carolina and I study at NC State.

If you have the opportunity and the grades, SAT scores, and are a well rounded student then go for it, especially if they have a good program. I’m an accounting major, so if I had a better opportunity academically, I could have gone to Harvard or UPenn, or some other good college that has a good program.
