... Read moreOkay, so we've all been there, right? That heart-stopping moment when your precious iPhone slips from your hand, hits the pavement, and you slowly pick it up, dreading what you'll see. Or maybe it's a rogue splash of water near your Apple Watch. In those moments, the big question always pops up: 'Should I have gotten AppleCare+?' I've personally wrestled with this decision every time I get a new Apple device. For years, I told myself I was careful enough, that I didn't need the extra expense. Then, disaster struck. My iPhone 13, barely a few months old, took an unexpected tumble down a flight of stairs. The screen was completely shattered, and the back glass had a nasty crack. My heart sank, thinking about the astronomical repair cost. That's when I truly started to evaluate the 'worth it' factor of AppleCare+. What exactly does AppleCare+ offer? Beyond the standard warranty, it extends your hardware coverage and includes up to two incidents of accidental damage protection every 12 months, each subject to a service fee. This covers things like screen damage, back glass damage, and even liquid damage. Plus, you get priority access to Apple experts for software support. From my own (painful) experience, having AppleCare+ turned a potential financial nightmare into a manageable hiccup. The repair for my shattered screen and cracked back glass would have cost hundreds of dollars out-of-pocket – almost half the price of a new phone! With AppleCare+, I paid a significantly lower service fee, and my phone was as good as new within a day. The peace of mind alone was worth it for me, especially since I rely on my iPhone for work and staying connected. I remember thinking, 'Finally, this investment paid off!' But is it for everyone? Honestly, no. If you're someone who rarely drops their phone, always keeps it in a super sturdy case (like a clear iPhone case with a robust MagSafe ring, for example, which I now swear by!), and tends to upgrade your device frequently, you might find the annual cost unnecessary. For an older device, the cost of AppleCare+ might approach the cost of simply replacing the phone with a refurbished model. Also, some credit cards offer extended warranty or purchase protection that might cover accidental damage, so it's always good to check your existing benefits. Here's how I usually decide: Device Value: For my high-end iPhone or iPad Pro, where repairs are incredibly expensive, AppleCare+ feels like a no-brainer. For an older Apple Watch SE, perhaps less so. My Lifestyle: Am I often outdoors, traveling, or generally prone to clumsy moments? If yes, AppleCare+ offers a safety net. Repair Costs: I always look up the out-of-warranty repair costs for the specific device. If a screen repair is nearly $300-400, then paying $100-200 for AppleCare+ over two years, plus a small service fee, looks much more appealing. Alternative Protection: Do I have homeowners insurance that covers electronics, or a credit card with good purchase protection? In conclusion, the 'is AppleCare+ worth it?' debate really comes down to your personal risk tolerance and budget. For me, after a few close calls and one very expensive drop, it's become a staple for my primary devices. It’s not just about fixing a broken screen; it’s about the peace of mind knowing that if (or when!) something inevitably happens, I’m covered. What are your thoughts? Have you had an experience where AppleCare+ saved the day, or do you think it's an unnecessary expense?

hi absolutely yes! if your phone malfunctions you take it to apple and they’ll give you a brand new phone! i suggest not doing it with your carrier as unfortunately they will give you a refurbished phone and we don’t want that! i’ve cracked mine 1x and got a brand new phone!
