Circle of friends gets smaller with age? Is it normal? ✨🦋

I think many of us had a huge circle of friends during our school days. Back then, it felt like those friendships would last forever. Right?

But as we step into adulthood, things naturally change.

You start to notice that some people slowly drift away from your life. Not because of arguments or bad blood, but simply because you've both grown into different people. You no longer share the same interests, goals, or conversations. Sometimes, the only thing holding the friendship together is the beautiful memories you once shared.

There may also come a time when you realise that friendships you once held so dear to have changed. Maybe your friends started planning meetups without you, maybe they stop reaching out. While it may hurt, sometimes that's all the answer you need. Instead of forcing your way back into people's lives, it's okay to let go and move forward. ❤️

The good news is that adulthood also brings new friendships. You meet people at work or through different stages of life, and sometimes these unexpected connections become the most genuine ones. They are the friends who check in on you when you've been quiet, celebrate your wins, and stay by your side during difficult times.

If you're going through this, know that you're not alone. 🫶🏻 Growing apart from people is a normal part of life, and it doesn't erase the memories you once shared together. 🍃

Don't close yourself off from meeting new people just because you've been disappointed before. Keep your heart open. 🌻

At the end of the day, I'd rather have a small circle filled with people who truly care than a large circle where I don't feel seen. Hold on tightly to the people who love you, choose you, and bring you peace.

Sometimes, a peaceful mind, a grateful heart, and a few genuine people are all you really need. 🤍✨

... Read moreFrom my own experience, I've noticed that as we move through different phases of life, the size of our friend circle tends to shrink, but the depth of those friendships often grows stronger. This change can feel unsettling at first—it's natural to question if something is wrong when old friends drift away or when you find yourself with fewer social interactions. However, this process is entirely normal and reflects personal growth. In my twenties, I tried to maintain every friendship from school and college, but I realized that not all relationships fit into my evolving lifestyle or values. Those who once shared similar interests might now lead different lives, making it harder to connect on a meaningful level. Accepting this helped me understand that it's less about losing friends and more about making space for relationships that truly resonate with who I am today. Another important lesson is normalizing spending time alone and not equating fewer friends with loneliness. Solitude can be peaceful and offer a chance for self-reflection. I found that focusing on quality rather than quantity leads to greater satisfaction and emotional well-being. I treasure the friends who consistently reach out and show genuine care—the ones who truly choose me. It’s also worth noting that new friendships can blossom unexpectedly, such as meeting someone at work or through a shared hobby. These connections often bring freshness and support during life’s challenges. Ultimately, a smaller, more genuine circle reduces social pressures and fosters greater peace of mind. Embracing this change allows us to cultivate a grateful heart and cherish those who bring positivity into our lives.

Timeleft to make friends in Singapore 🇸🇬
Looking for an easy way to meet people in Singapore - both locals and expats? I recently started using an app called Timeleft, and it’s been a nice way to meet new faces around the city. The idea is simple: every week, you’re matched with 5 strangers for dinner at a restaurant chosen by the app.
