Quick and easy toddler activity

I saved all the rolls from my paper products from a small period of time and have some extras saved sir replacement parts.

STEPS:

1. Collect cardboard rolls (paint or decorate if you like)

2. Find a clear wall or other flat surface and secure rolls in various patterns that a car or ping pong ball can roll down. (Mine is a little messy as my little guy was assisting in putting them up. You can make yours neater or have your little one help!)

3. Have fun! My son was playing with this the second the first tube was on the wall.

I left mine a little messy looking as it’s authentic and my son helped with putting it up. Of course you can use other tape or if you want something a little more permanent replace the cardboard tubing with piping or other plastic tubes. This activity can easily be morphed into educational things, such as height differences, colors and even numbers! The best part is, the materials are easily replaceable when damaged.

This cardboard roll activity promotes fine motor skills as children engage in cutting and taping tubes together. It also stimulates cognitive learning, as children can count the balls used in the activity or identify colors while they play. Consider incorporating fun challenges, like timing how fast a ball can roll down, which adds an element of excitement! To elevate the learning experience, you could extend the activity by introducing concepts like gravity and slope, explaining how different angles affect the speed of the balls. Additionally, it's a sustainable option that recycles household materials, making it a budget-friendly and eco-conscious choice for parents. Don't forget to supervise your toddler during play to ensure safety and maximize enjoyment in this simple yet versatile activity!
