A day in Chicago
Nathan and I were treated to Thai food while in Chicago. It was our first time going. The food was amazing. I'll definitely go again
Since my quick post about our first visit, I've had so many people ask for more details about our amazing experience at Ezankaya Thai Street Restaurant in Chicago! I totally get it – when you find a gem, you want to share all the secrets. Nathan and I were genuinely blown away by our meal there, and I wanted to dive a bit deeper into why it left such a lasting impression. First off, finding authentic Thai food that truly transports you can be a challenge, but Ezankaya nailed it. We started with some classic spring rolls which were perfectly crisp and came with a delicious sweet chili dipping sauce. These weren't just any spring rolls; they were packed with fresh vegetables and had a beautiful golden crunch. For our main courses, I dared to try their Pad See Ew, and Nathan went for the Green Curry. My Pad See Ew was absolutely divine – the flat rice noodles had that perfect chewy texture, the sauce was rich, savory, and perfectly balanced, and the Chinese broccoli was cooked just right, retaining a slight bite. It was a symphony of flavors in every mouthful. Nathan's Green Curry was equally impressive with its vibrant, aromatic spices, tender chicken, and creamy coconut milk base. It had just the right amount of heat to make it exciting without being overwhelming. It wasn't just 'good'; it tasted incredibly fresh, like every ingredient was carefully selected and prepared with passion. The atmosphere at Ezankaya Chicago was also really charming and added to the whole experience. It felt cozy and welcoming, with a vibrant energy that made our dinner even more enjoyable. The decor was tasteful and modern but still had an authentic touch, creating a comfortable and inviting space. It's the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy great conversation, and really savor your food without feeling rushed. The staff were super friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in. They were happy to answer our questions about the menu, offered excellent recommendations based on our preferences, and ensured we had everything we needed. Their service truly enhanced our dining experience. If you're planning a trip to Chicago or you're a local looking for a new favorite Thai spot, seriously consider adding Ezankaya Thai Street Restaurant to your must-try list. It's perfect for a casual date night, a celebratory meal with friends, or even a delightful solo treat. I'd recommend going a little earlier in the evening, perhaps around 5:30 or 6 PM, if you want to avoid the busiest rush, especially on weekends. This way, you can enjoy a more relaxed pace. And don't be afraid to ask your server for their personal favorites or what's popular – sometimes those are the best discoveries! We're already planning our next visit to try their Tom Yum soup and maybe some mango sticky rice for dessert. What are your favorite Thai dishes? I'd love to hear your recommendations for our next visit!
