1. Basil leaves

6. Flowers

Flower offerings add color and aroma to the ritual. Lilies, marigolds, and roses are the most popular flowers used, along with garlands. Also, some devotees offer jasmine, Champa, Wretch (Parishaya), Malaty, and Caner, depending on the flowers available.

7. Yellow cloth

Yellow is the color associated with Vishnu since ancient times. Devotees often lay a yellow cloth on the altar before enshrining a statue or picture of the monk. Offering yellow clothes is also considered auspicious on this important day.

8. Sandalwood or fragrant Jan

Sandalwood, or fragrant sandalwood, is used both as a sacrifice and for the tilak points (markings on the forehead) during religious rituals; the refreshing cold aroma of fragrant sandalwood is believed to cleanse the surroundings and add sanctity to the ritual site.
