The dangers of cosmic gas

I have to share something unsettling I experienced tonight. I was on my way to grab my dog from my apartment and when I got to the elevator, I encountered a guy carrying this massive can of “cosmic gas.” For those who don’t know, cosmic gas, to my knowledge, is the stuff used in whipped cream cans to push out the cream. I believe it’s used in stuff like that canned cheese spread as well, but it’s been turned into a drug that people inhale, and it’s really harmful.
this guy in the elevator with the gas just froze, stared blankly at me and the others nearby, and then completely blacked out. He collapsed right in front of us. There was a little girl standing next to me who looked absolutely terrified. Her family only spoke Spanish and couldn’t speak any English, so I wasn’t able to explain to them what had happened or why he collapsed. They just saw him black out without any context, and I felt helpless not being able to explain.
After a few seconds, the guy got back up, looking like a zombie, and walked out like nothing happened, still holding that giant can of gas. It was eerie and horrifying to witness.
What’s worse, when I got in the elevator, it still smelled like the gas. I didn’t breathe in much, but I could smell it, and that stuff is seriously toxic. I’m planning to report this to my apartment manager. I’m not trying to get the guy kicked out, but this situation is dangerous for everyone. If he’s inhaling that stuff until he blacks out, he could hurt himself or others. I saw him head toward the parking lot after he left, and I shudder to think what could happen if he got behind the wheel in that state.
The whole thing left me shaken, especially seeing that poor little girl so scared, and her family unable to understand what had just happened. It’s hard to process how normalized something like this has potentially become. walking around with a massive can of a dangerous substance like it’s no big deal.
This isn’t just a personal safety issue; it’s a public one. I’ll be following up to make sure the apartment managers are aware so they can address it. Hopefully, this guy gets the help he needs before someone gets seriously hurt.

Omgosh that's terrifying!! 😦 How awful for everyone involved! *hugs* I hope the guy gets the help he really really needs. I hope the little girl forgets about it. I am so glad that when you saw something, you said something!! I hope the apartment manager helps as much as possible. 💜
