Next Adventure: NASM Certified Personal Trainer

I just enrolled into the NASM certification course! I have always wanted to learn more about personal training, form/ technique, etc and the perfect opportunity came my way. I am currently a spin instructor certified by Schwinn and I can’t wait to add CPT to my certs!

Being the fitness nerd I am, I am so excited to learn more. This course will help with my own workouts, my spin classes and maybe (one day) training others! I am hoping to use it in some capacity to train others however maybe after my wedding due to a very busy schedule 🙈

Follow along for this adventure and some workouts in the future!

... Read moreStarting this NASM CPT journey feels like a huge step in my fitness career, and honestly, the excitement is palpable! For anyone else considering becoming a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), especially with NASM, I wanted to share a bit more about why I chose it and what I'm anticipating. My initial research into different certifications kept bringing me back to NASM because of its strong reputation, evidence-based approach, and the comprehensive Optimum Performance Training (OPT) model. It really felt like the gold standard for personal training, offering a solid foundation that goes beyond just 'workouts.' There's a reason you see so many successful trainers with this credential, and that vision of future success, much like the 'I AM GETTING MY NASM CPT CERTIFICATION' text over my photo, fuels my drive. Already, diving into the course material has been fascinating. It's not just about reps and sets; we're covering intricate details of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition fundamentals, and client assessment. The online platform is incredibly well-structured with interactive modules, practice quizzes, and even practical exercises that help solidify understanding. It's definitely a significant time commitment, but I'm finding that breaking it down into smaller, focused study sessions and actively taking notes helps a lot. I'm particularly excited about understanding how to truly personalize training programs using the OPT model, which progresses clients through stabilization, strength, and power phases. This framework is what sets NASM apart, providing a systematic way to help anyone, from beginners to advanced athletes, achieve their fitness goals safely and effectively. I’m looking forward to applying this deeper knowledge, not just to my future clients, but also to enhance my current spin classes and even my own personal fitness routines. That feeling of empowerment, knowing I'm building a robust understanding of the human body and exercise science, is incredibly motivating. It's going to be transformative for how I approach my own '212 FITNESS' journey, ensuring every workout is purposeful. Many of you might be wondering about the 'success stories' of NASM CPTs and whether they're realistic or exaggerated. My take is that getting the NASM CPT certification is a powerful credential, but it's just the first step. True success in personal training comes from continued learning, building relationships, effectively applying what you've learned, and often, a lot of hustle. I'm envisioning various pathways – from working in a gym setting to eventually building my own online coaching presence, perhaps even integrating this new expertise with my spin instruction. It's about passion meeting profession. The certification provides the robust 'how-to,' but the drive, consistency, and genuine connection with clients truly bring the 'success.' For those on the fence, consider what aspect of fitness truly ignites your passion. If it's helping others achieve their goals through scientifically-backed, personalized methods, then the NASM CPT is definitely a path worth exploring. I'm learning so much, and I can't wait to share more as this new adventure unfolds!
