DIY trinket bowl you can make for free✨🌈

One of my favorite things about creating a cozy home is finding ways to repurpose beautiful pieces instead of letting them serve just one purpose 🤍 Recently while browsing HomeGoods I came across this gorgeous tortoise shell style glass candle bowl with tiny heart details on it and instantly knew it was meant to be something more. The candle itself was cute but what really caught my eye was the bowl. It felt like the perfect little trinket dish for my room to hold crystals Panda Express fortunes and all my sentimental tiny treasures 🌙

So instead of burning it once and letting it fade away I decided to turn it into a permanent decor piece for my space.

I burned the candle down for most of the day until the wicks finally burned out on their own. After that I carefully removed the little aluminum wick holders from the bottom of the bowl so nothing would interfere with the wax melting process later. Because the candle had burned unevenly there was still quite a bit of wax leftover which meant I needed a safe gentle method to remove it completely.

To melt the remaining wax without risking damage to the glass I used a water bath technique that keeps heat indirect and controlled ✨ I filled a pot with shallow room temperature water and placed the bowl inside so it floated without being fully submerged. Then I turned the heat on very low and let everything warm slowly over time similar to how a candle warmer melts wax gradually. I checked on it every few minutes and after about thirty minutes almost all of the wax had melted fully.

Once I removed the bowl from the water bath I didn’t reuse the wax because I didn’t particularly love the scent so I placed layers of thick paper towels inside and gently absorbed all of the warm liquid wax until the bowl was cleared completely. Any small leftover solid wax pieces can easily be thrown away or saved if someone wants to make wax melts later 🤍

After the wax was removed I washed the bowl thoroughly with dish soap warm water and a sponge to remove any residue. I made sure every trace of wax was gone and then dried it carefully with a towel until the glass was crystal clear again.

The end result is honestly one of my favorite little decor upgrades 🌙 This heart detailed bowl now lives in my bedroom filled with crystals and fortune slips that feel sweet and special instead of cluttered. Something about taking an item that was meant to be temporary and transforming it into something meaningful feels so comforting to me.

Home decor doesn’t always have to be about buying new pieces. Sometimes it is about slowing down and reimagining what you already have. Small mindful projects like this make my space feel more intentional and personal which brings me so much peace 🤍
